- Comment on Am I a bad person if (as left as they come) I invest in American Private Prison contractors on the assumption that Trump will go through with his deportation scheme at least to some extent? 2 weeks ago:
In theory if you could use any profits to make counter-investments or buy enough stock to be able to influence them to move in a different direction then your strategy might be viable, but unless you literally just buy 1 share to be able to harass them at stockholder meetings then in all likelihood your money is doing more harm than good.
Best to just straight up invest in organizations that are effective in stopping these things and influencing policy against them.

Most are safer than nuclear, but until the environmental cost of manufacturing them is outweighed by the benefit of their use then nuclear is the least intolerable stopgap.

The problem isn’t that they exploded one time. The problem is that that one explosion is still happening and likely will be for quite a while.

Either this is a significant personality change that would indicate an illness requiring treatment, or this is who he’s secretly always been in which case you’re really not losing anything but your illusions and if this is the last time you see him then you’re not really losing anything important.
If it’s the former it may help you to feel better by trying to get him some help, even if you fail then at least you tried. If it’s the latter then it’s just best to cut your losses as soon as possible and move on.
