- Comment on What's The Point Of Hard Games, Anyway? [Game Maker's Toolkit, 12:22] 1 week ago:
Those are great because they don’t change the nature of the game. You just adjust the difficulty of the self-imposed challenge. It’s still essentially the same experience. If you ruin the game for yourself by setting it too easy that’s on you.
When people say stuff like “I just want to explore Elden Ring”, that’s like watching behind-the-scenes content or looking at a concept art book of a movie without watching the movie. It can be enjoyable but it’s not a complete experience, you’re missing the original context entirely. I wish people realized that.
- Comment on League of Legends is testing a new WASD control scheme, 16 years inThe WASD controls will launch in public beta first for an ‘extended run.’ 1 month ago:
Anyone remember Masters X Masters? It was a MOBA that had WASD controls as it’s only option, even had a jump (though it was mostly useless), it felt so much more intuitive than spamming click. I don’t think that’ll get me to try LoL again though.
- Comment on Ubisoft CEO responds to the Stop Killing Games petition, stating the publisher is 'working on' improving its approach to end-of-life support, but that 'nothing is eternal' 2 months ago:
Games aren’t developed in a silo, for example XDefiant shares its engine with The Division and probably back-end services with most other Ubisoft games, so releasing its code could expose vulnerabilities to be exploited in games that are still running. They could still be forced to release a closed source server application though.
- Comment on Open World Games: yay or nay? 4 months ago:
Yeah I find that open world games are only as good as their sandbox capabilities.
- Comment on ‘Mass theft’: Thousands of artists call for AI art auction to be cancelled 7 months ago:
That’s wrong, since speculative investment and money laundering are so intertwined with the pricing of art.

You can tuck wired headphones under your shirt if it’s a problem, I still do that if I only have wired earbuds on me. Also Bluetooth headphones add a bit of lag which I find noticeable when playing games.

Quebec also has a disproportionate amount of successful games for similar circumstances. Video game salaries are pretty well subsidized (although it was originally only meant to encourage Ubisoft to open a studio then other companies joined or got created so they kept it). The current government is threatening that though. That’s on top of socialized healthcare, low electricity cost, and the Canadian Media Fund but those all apply to the rest of Canada as well.
Quick list on top of my head: Indies: Outlast, Dead by Daylight, The Messenger, Spiritfarer, Ultimate Chicken Horse, Fez… AAA: Deus Ex, R6 Siege, For Honor, some of the better Assassin’s Creed and Farcry, Batman Arkham Origins
