Over time they realised that, while holiday windows or whatever have high sales, if there’s a better or more popular game coming out then, yours will just be forgotten.
That said, most “industry specialists” are just glorified influencers, so take it with a grain of salt

The censorship surrounding taiwan is super lame. You can’t even ask about stuff that happened 50+ years ago. Even if you ask about something else, if somehow the answer includes the world Taiwan, it deletes it.

A few years from now people will have nostalgia about these early fediverse days and the weird and lame stuff like “the fediverse chick”

My wife did the same as you. Ten years later her wisdom teeth, in the process of trying to get out, broke one of her other teeth so she had to not only remove them but restore her once healthy tooth. Much more expensive (and painful) this way.

The only people saying this were Ultima players from 2005 before they tried and WoW and switched.

So, is it the world first or not? They were technically the first…

Damn, lemmy is so good that it has a time machine to read comments from 2005!
- Comment on Gaming has a polarization problem 2 weeks ago:
With the amount of 9s and 10s coming out, why would you waste time with a 7? The polarisation is just an effect of the language of clickbait spreading in society, but doesn’t change the fact that average games are probably not worth your time.

I hope this is still early in development. You can’t have a game set exclusively in a city where buildings look like that.
- Comment on Three years later, the Steam Deck has dominated handheld PC gaming 3 weeks ago:
Yes, it squashes the steam deck, that’s what I said.
- Comment on [deleted] 3 weeks ago:
I believe the biggest issue is more to do with matchmaking trying to provide engagement rather than good assessment of players’ skills. This is obvious when you see systems where winning gives you a good amount of points/tank regardless of the opponents skill level, which just foments even more the want for easy stomps rather than good games.
- Comment on [deleted] 3 weeks ago:
Is this complaining about skill-based matchmaking?
- Comment on Three years later, the Steam Deck has dominated handheld PC gaming 3 weeks ago:
The ease of use of the Steam Deck cannot be overstated. Yes you can tinker with it a bunch but if you just want to play your games, you download and play. The windows handhelds will never be as easy since windows is just crap for this (and MS is not interested in improving).
- Comment on Three years later, the Steam Deck has dominated handheld PC gaming 3 weeks ago:
If you mean the switch, then it has been thoroughly squashed. If you mean phones, well I think we can agree they are not really competing for the same customers, and if you think they do, most people are buying phones for reasons other than gaming. So you’d need a way to section the market for “gaming phones” (yes, that’s a thing).
- Comment on Is there any hope for Ukraine to survive as an independent state now that trump is desperately wishing for a peace treaty with Russia, even bypassing Ukraine? 4 weeks ago:
Then why didn’t they respect the two Minsk agreements?
- Comment on Is there any hope for Ukraine to survive as an independent state now that trump is desperately wishing for a peace treaty with Russia, even bypassing Ukraine? 4 weeks ago:
NATO has been encircling Russia for decades. You just want to justify it as “people choosing democracy” when the fall of USAID and NED just shows that they were regime change operations orchestrated by the US. If peace was the point, the Minsk agreements would have been respected. If saving lives was the point, the UK wouldn’t have told Zelensky to fight a war they couldn’t win. Nothing about this conflict has been about ukrainian interests. It always was and still is about russian and american interests. You want to argue that what Russia is doing is imperialism, but it is the US that wishes to balkanize the country, and THAT is actual imperialism. But of course that wouldn’t bother you.

The Euromaidan was a coup orchestrated by the west, it’snot a matter of opinion, you just think it was a good thing.

They weren’t independent since 2014
- Comment on Is there any hope for Ukraine to survive as an independent state now that trump is desperately wishing for a peace treaty with Russia, even bypassing Ukraine? 4 weeks ago:
Are you arguing that doing everything the US wants, to the point of signing away 50% of every cent made from your natural resources, some sort of freedom? The fact of the matter is that neutrality suited the people of Ukraine very well, but not NATO.

I’m not?

They weren’t independent before and will not be after the war. Just the master will change, maybe.
- Comment on Do most people still use computers, or do people only use a smartphone as their main/only device? 4 weeks ago:
The average non-tech person only has a phone. And maybe a shared family notebook if at any point someone needed a computer for things that you can’t do on the phone (like filing taxes and such).
- Comment on Grand Theft Auto VI and Grand Theft Auto Online Could Be Sold Separately; Rockstar Is Targeting Solid 30 FPS on Consoles, According to Former Animator 1 month ago:
We’ll get 60 and above on pc a while later anyway. Also the sold separately thing is probably just like they did with RDR2 where you could get everything or just the multiplayer part of the game, which I personally think is fine.
