- Comment on Elder Scrolls Online devs detail “inhumane” Microsoft layoffs as Xbox expects the “carcass of workers” to “keep shipping award-winning games” 1 day ago:
This is very common in the corporate world. The only thing is it doesn’t make sense for a trillion-dollar corporation reaping record profits to be doing this, or maybe it does. We all say competition in the market is good, but I don’t think trillion-dollar corporations are incentivized to compete. They’re chasing dollars while employees and consumers are pennies to them.

Yeah, definitely share your medical records with chatbots.

I’m still waiting for them to recover financially so they can create another deep RPG like Daggerfall. I’ll bet ES6 will be for the fans /s
- Comment on Romero Games reportedly met with Microsoft just a day before the publisher pulled funding for the studio, and there was 'no mention' of the decision that put over 100 people out of work 2 weeks ago:
Unlike EA, Microsoft can afford to wait a little and then get rid of the employees. They let them do what they want because they have no idea how to run a gaming studio anymore. They don’t have any incentive to have expertise, which is why the old Xbox IPs like Halo or Gears died so COD can live in another part of town. They are like tech venture capitalists now, not even just in gaming.
- Comment on Founder of Arkane Studios: "I think Gamepass is an unsustainable model that has been increasingly damaging the industry for a decade"; impacts sales 2 weeks ago:
Have they paid off the 70 billion? If they are making money, why are they firing people and cancelling projects?
- Comment on Has Xbox Considered Laying One Person Off Instead Of Thousands 2 weeks ago:
Unfortunately, Microsoft is bigger than 1 good dude. Remember when this one executive threatened to pull MS out of an entire nation because the CMA had an objection regarding the ABK merger? For every one Phil, there are probably 9 of these rich pricks.

Will it kill PC gaming for you if retailers themselves sell video cards for over $150 MSRP?
- Comment on 'Death Stranding 2' proves more video games need to get weird, experts say 3 weeks ago:
Kojima used their engine and helped him get his own studio get started when his old one wanted to chase mobile gaming.
- Comment on I'm gonna mute this one 5 weeks ago:
I’m a side sleeper. I can sleep on this bench. Given the other half of the government would get rid of the bench altogether, this is a good compromise. Now if you want to get rid of the divider altogether, the fascist side of the government needs to be thoroughly and consistently beaten. That’s just the system. You can make an argument that the “ideal” left is incompetent too for always losing.

Even you ignored the first part of what I said, but I don’t blame you. That’s how conversations go.
- Comment on Why do people insist on not answering ALL the questions in an email or text message? 3 months ago:
I’ve had my fair share of issues with not getting a complete response from e-mails. And so I changed the way I look at it. It’s not like it will take weeks to get all the information you need just because you didn’t get everything in one go.
- Comment on Why do people insist on not answering ALL the questions in an email or text message? 3 months ago:
Digital communication is near instant. It’s not like snail mail where you have to cram your letter with as much information as you can, or it will be ages until the next reply.

Even when we converse, we get across just one point at a time. You have to respect other people’s time and bandwidth (Okay, one or two points).
- Comment on 6* months away now. If you're on 10, do you plan to upgrade? Make the jump to Linux? 3 months ago:
Even the Playstation OS is better than this. It asks you whether to update before shutdown or the next time it starts up. ‘You’re 33% there’ is gaslighting, especially when you’re just shutting down the machine to go to bed.

You’ve played Cyberpunk 2077? Majority of players played female V. I don’t think they struggled to play as her either.
- Comment on Sniper Elite Resistance dev defends asset reuse - “if they’re there to use, why not use them?” 7 months ago:
I made a tool that migrates from one DB format to another. Then another format was introduced. Of course I reused the assets from the tool to expand the tool to migrate to the new DB format. But then I know more of what can go wrong with the tool, so even then testing took longer, but the tool ran cleaner.

- Comment on How is Lemmy better than Reddit? 11 months ago:
When you think about it, every sarcastic comment you make on Reddit now makes Google better. Reddit is too corporate, but who wouldn’t want to spread seriously good information on Reddit, to be picked up by the google machine? People need to know about the benefits of a little piece of rock a day.
- Comment on Today, it has been 6 years since The Elder Scrolls 6 teaser 1 year ago:
Even Morrowind was a simplified version of Daggerfall, even though it was groundbreaking when it was released. They decided that the direction to take was to simplify the mechanics progressively, to make the series more appealing to more people, as opposed to adding interesting complications back as their tech develops. They succeeded in their mantra of “keep it simple, stupid”. I don’t have any hope that the next game will be more interesting. It will look prettier, of course.
- Comment on A bad influence 1 year ago:
Every update, some thing breaks. The “new” Teams does not work well with the microphone on my work laptop, I’ve had to resort to using headphones. The interface just sucks too. I hate that the left pane auto-hides now. So inconvenient. It’s not just Teams too. Every part of Office has broken for us during previous updates. I miss the times when Windows was just an OS for the most part and MS was not trying hard to be Apple.
- Comment on I just got a pop up ad from Windows, for PC gaming and buy their Xbox controller. 1 year ago:
Happened to me on a recent Windows update too. A popup about Game Pass and a Bethesda game I’m no longer buying.
