  At this point I would imagine that the UK state has a file on pretty much anyone who has joined a political party, signed a petition, turned up to a demonstration and so on. It’s probably been like this at least since the start of the 20th Century and is now - with the help of big tech - able to do it at scale. I’m pretty paranoid about this sort of stuff but I reckon the UK is riddled with inoffizielle Mitarbeiter types who live on our streets or work with us. And that all the political parties from left to right are infiltrated with state operatives. We live in a country with a only a vaneer of freedom and democracy.

  Yeah I’m not fucking surprised. I’m not surprised at all.

  I’m also not surprised they’re going for both The far right and pro Palestine people too. A bit concerned how the article opened with “They’re going against the far right” then mentioned nearer the end they are also going after People who speak out against the genocide in Palestine.

  But yeah this is why I have a VPN permanently on.

  If the ORG is designated a terrorist group like Palestine Action, how much of a grace period will existing members have before they get disappeared to Azkaban-in-the-Falklands or wherever all those designated terrorists will need to be contained? Is not renewing your membership enough, does one have to renounce it within 24 hours of the designation, or will the ruling be retroactive, condemning anyone who was a member years ago even if they let it lapse?

  I assume that lost contains basically every single person who has interacted with prevent, because the government’s “do the job of the security services for us” and “dob your students in for looking a bit too brown” program is a pile of shite.

  I do wonder whether this has happened so that they can follow the spread of misinformation online, it’s origins and how it propagates online.

  Either way, it’s a bad look as it means that the party in charge has to maintain it’s grip over the people or the other side gain the same powers they currently have, leading to authoritarianism no matter which way you go.

  I hate the common sense, knowledge of your field and respect & decency seems to be some of the lowest priorities on the list of things needed to be working in government.
