I still have my N64 and carts so this will never truly supplant the real thing. Might be more interested in playing Majora’s Mask again on Switch 2 if they did that.

This art direction is unbelievably bad, IMO. I am shocked to seemingly be in the minority on this.

I completely agree. Looks like the typical fan remakes in Unreal engine. Absolutely no personality or charm in this art style.

I’m with you. Looks like marketplace art.

I’m sure the graphics will be a big point of contention, since there aren’t a ton of changes otherwise, and in that regard I don’t mind them too much, though some of the characters look wonky and inconsistent.

I’m more disappointed it appears to be a 1:1 remake. Between that and the way the the gameplay video talked down to the audience (“this is how you jump, wow!” and “we kept loading screens to make you nostalgic”), this just isn’t for me. It makes me sad that this seems to be happening more and more with Nintendo.

Fortunately, I just played Ship of Harkinian last year and had a great time. It already includes a lot of the QoL improvements (e.g. free camera movement), and with an HD texture pack it looks good without compromising the original style. Plays on the go with on a Steam Deck too!

Hell yeah, I recently finished Dusk too! Be warned, the configuration menus for SoH are much rougher than Dusk, they set a new high bar with that one.

Dusk and SoH are both extremely solid ways to experience those games. There’s 2S2H for Majora’s Mask, too!

Missed opportunity to go super stylized with it. The new titles lean so far into realism, it makes me wonder what it would look like to try to evoke an N64 aesthetic with modern graphics power.

Huh? This didn’t make sense to me. What’s with skipping back & forth from baby Link to Mid-20’s Link?

That’s one of the core mechanics in Ocarina of Time.

      Tap for spoiler

You travel between pre-catastrophe Hyrule and post-catastrophe Hyrule by pulling/sheathing the Master Sword in the Cathedral of Time. When you pull it, you travel forward in time until Link is strong enough to carry it and when you sheath it you return to „regular“ (kid) Link‘s time.
