New unions rely on social organizing: which is rarer than even a few decades ago.
The decline of participation in city/county politics, the decline of unions, fewer people in churches, bars and parks: all of these happened at the same time. There is something lacking in most of the social structure inside the USA Today; but that sense of local community was very strong even through the 1960s.
It makes total sense that the majority of people want unions, but many struggle to improve that.

Are you an American? Are you talking to Americans? The Guardian is corporate-owned propaganda.
Correct me if I’m wrong or ootl but isn’t the guardian an independent media company?
There’s also a voluntary cost associated with the union. I can foresee people liking it on paper, but backing away when it’s time to forfeit $90 per month. (I don’t know the average cost, but that’s what I pay). You gotta be in a good spot to support it.
“When asked if they will vote for the platform that most supports union, workers’ rights, which are human rights, only 30% said they would.” “They also said they “feel like” the party doesn’t pass laws from the platform federally, but realized some states have, and that federally need enough majority and for long enough to keep the legislation people want.” Kidding, I made that up, but somehow that 70% this claims, does not translate to consistent election wins, and then rights for the majority of us are chipped away each time, life seems harder so people often double down on blaming minorities and make harsher laws. It’s a historical pattern you can learn about and see it repeating again, or how to avoid it would be fun!

The comment hits the nail of the head. Most politicians no matter the party hate to support unions with actual legislation. They will talk a great game but in reality they will always side with big business.
