Is the an increase demand issue (from.aroubd the world I mean, not jist Oz) , limited supply issue or both?
I can see the increasing demand issue needing capital to fund expansions that some companies might be wary of?
India seems to be the world’s pill maker, have we outsourced too much?
We seem to now have a dizzying arry of medications and an ever expanding list of drugs, is that some of the bottleneck ?
Maybe Hobart would be better placed spending billions on a drug manufacturing plant to onshore production, rather then those billions being used for the hit and giggle stadium and a basslink duplication ?

Nobody wants to hit the edge, spray all over your shins then bend over to wipe it up and slip in your own piss
This is why guys get married, to escape this hazaed… Night piss everywhere and ignore it, have the wife clean it up and complain endlessly.
This is also the leading cause of divorce apparently, according to the Wikipedia article on the matter.

Indeed First Nations Australian’s had many more “seasons” and Australia being a huge country differwet areas had different seasons.

You can make your own Lemmy iinstance and be your own censorship police, that’s the difference. Thats NOT an option on Reddit.
Hell, you don’t even have to be on Lemmy, Mastodon, any if the Bins etc can interact bacause they alo use ActivityPub.
There are plethora of instances people don’t federate with becase they don’t agree with them, that’s how it SHOULD be.

if voters are feeling economic pressures lifting
Only 1/3 of homeowners have a housing loan, they’ll be the ones benefiting directly. Investors will not pass on any savings to renters and those owning outright will see a savings hit, going backwards.
We’ve just starting seeing some minor impact on lowering housing prices making it easier for people to buy a place. For example
www.abc.net.au/news/2024-12-31/…/104740132
That combined with a reduced immigration rate should see property prices at least stabilise at the stupid levels they’re at now, rather then keep increasing and making it worse.
Cheaper interest rates might give a small short term sugar hit to a few but cheap interest rates are a sign of structural and dysfunctional failure, they allow people to do stupid shit they should not, like constantly bid up housing prices. We have loose lending laws, as the IMF has pointed out for years, compounding the problem and a buch of other dunmb shit like first home owners grants all making it worse.
We have a planet being destroyed before our eyes and we’re getting a nation of fools electing donkeys. Nothing new under the sun there though.

Am an Australian guy starting work in the mid 80s
Worked washing dishes from 16 part time for comoc book money when it was laughed at, realsied work wasn’t for me, got a labouring job that paid ok and was away from home 5 days a week with food and accommodation paid for by my employer, just stayed at my parents for 2 days a week, chipped in with a small amount they asked for, had a an old cheap motobike to het aroibd, nevertheless owned a car, too expensive. Saved heaps but not paid much, 12 months in I upgrade to a fly in fly out job on triple the wage, much the same work, employer also happy to pay for all tertiary education expenses for remote study, 2 weeks on, 1 week off, stay at hone with parents, seme deal, go to work for a fortnight, take $10 come home with $5 becase everything is paid for. Nothing but study and work, seems hard. Don’t drink or smoke so no expenses really aside from the occasional snickers bar. Other workers come back and stay for the week at Sheraton and get hookers, go to the Casino, , looks like loads of fun to a 20 something but they come back to work broke. All the while i am nerding out on financial newspapers and putting all my savings in the stock market… Retire at 35, debt free, modest house, no mortgage, fast foward, same frugal habits, am 57 and investments have balloned ridiculously. Am a NEET, or retired, or a drag on society, depends how u look at it I guess

Why wouldn’t “you” (the people organising and participating in the march) not want police as part of it?
Because some of those organising it where the ones that had the crap beaten out of them by police not so long ago. Perhaps as the years roll on things will change but right now I completely understand why.
My grandfather, who fought in WW2 in New Guinea lost his shit when my dad bought his first Japanese car (or so my dad told me decades ago) way back in the day, now, no one cares.

But It is, the only thing it’s not above is the constituion and our constitution is particulalry weak on any rights of citizens.
The shittiest one is the back dated legislation we introduce when it found they breached the law, happens way to often.

They should’ve passed the legislation and pressed for more action immediately.
No, the legislation is beyond a turd, thers bilkuosn for developers even with zero houses built… as a Greens voter, its a pity they caved at all.
Chnadker-Mathers tik tok video did a great job of explaining how fucking appalling it was.

I never paid attention to the newspapers, so I don’t know if it’s always like this.
It’s always been thus, siding with the orthdoxy as we slide closee to fascusm all the time.
I did jinx it though, my bad… , thunking Morrison was as bad as it got, before that thinking Abbott was as bad as it giwt, before that Howard was as bad as it got. Niw e look set to have Soud for PM., we’re so far down the sewage pipe there’s nowhere left to go.
I long ago realised i have little in common with most of my fellow citizens.
