- Comment on Hastie flags demotion or resignation should Liberals not abandon net zero 19 hours ago:
Some.years ago when he was first.elected , I had assumed the Green candidate was a shoo in, she had a PhD.in science amongst other things and was eloquent.
Hastie shoots people and is a young earth creationist. Perfwct fir the Libs I guess?
Never have I been so appaled at an electorate (well… Howard, Dutton etal … but still)
I suspect he’ll be the LNP leader one day and PM He keeps getting. re- elected on a bigger and bigger majority.

While even GenX had its fair share of these, the one thing I have seen in younger generations is an explosive increase in “Beta Orbiters”.
Same here, however for me that’s not a critique or criticism (I’m older Gen X) just an observation of a change in behaviour.
Like the astonishing “rise” in trans people. Once again, not a critisism, just an observation.
These young men need to learn how to shut metaphorical doors and ignore the women who have no interest in reciprocating and who will only string them along as “useful dancing monkeys”.
But it’s not just an m/f thing. I see the same thing with grifter men doing the same thing. I assume it’s some sort of peer thing with the ability of social media allowing easier contact?
That said it’s not a lot different to religion, so perhaps a thing in most humans ?

- Comment on what are the grievances with the "male loneliness epidemic"? 3 weeks ago:
I have no idea but thought I’d throw out that, as a 58yr old cis white guy I’ve never been lonely in my life, i have literally no idea what that’s like and don’t get involved in hypotheses about it all because I have nothing to bring to the debate. I do find human behaviour interesting (and mostly bizzare) though.
The more time I spend with people the more I crave being alone but that’s a different thing.
I now live on the edge of a tiny village in the middle of no where Australia and lived in a small cottage off grid in the bush for 10 years previously bit alos loved in an apartment in the sky in a largish city.
One thing I noticed, I found the car free existence ina city bought me into contact with people all the time, even walking you’d see people people and say hello. Stop at a crossing and have a small conversation occasionally etc. i even said hello to women and was never called a pervert ;)

Yeah know over the years I have gone from let the idiots be idiots
The problem is they take over the world, they end up in the positions of power etc. How to contain that, short of derision I’m not sure and even derision often doesnt work, some wear their stupidity as a badge of achievement!
It’s only because of their stupidity that they’re able to be so sure of themselves.” - Franz Kafka

Anyone who wins a Nobel in physics by watching people in a cafeteria is worth llistneing to.
There are some interviews in YT with him. I like the one where he tells the interviewer if he wants to stump a physicists ask them how ice skates work.

The literal solution to every addiction is stop it, cold turkey. One Day At A Time But you can’t stop eating food.
There’s no such thing in the DSM as “food addiction” though. You’re trivialising addiction

This doesn’t apply in Australia. It accumulates (as does sick leave and long service leave) and if you don’t use it you will start to be asked to start taking it after a couple years.

Well, it’s been that way for 25-30 years and the handful of us aren’t changing any thing (long time Greens voter and Independent before that)
I don’t vote Green to have them win per se (albeit their policies are miles in front of the ALP and LNP but to try to move the Overton Window to the left to see tje rose of the truly radical politcans we need. Labor lost the plot after Whitlam and the Overton window has been moving to the right ever since.
