- Comment on The latest Coalition scare campaign about Labor may scare itself more than voters 2 months ago:
As a Geeen voter, I can’t even think of what sort of Green voter would Vote Teal instead, they’re night and day apart?
This doesn’t pass the sniff test, you don’t need to vote “tactically” in Australia, we have preferential voting, so a Green Vote might preference a Teal and see their vote flow that way of the green candidate doesn’t hwt wnogh if the primary vote but thats a a different thing then Voting 1 Teal.
I always preference any Independent over the toxic shit stain that is the ALP and LNP.

- Comment on Compulsory voting in Australia is 100 years old. We should celebrate how special it makes our democracy 3 months ago:
For decades I thought cumpolsory voting was a good idea, the nit pick bad faith argiment about only having to have your name ticked off is a distraction.
Until I heard t single counter argument that they don’t want people who are angry with that cumpolsory voting system to vote.
And that changed my mind, I do’t want angry people who do not want to be there voting, I want people who want to me there
I am pro euthenasia as I am against cumpolsory voting for much the the same reason, that should be something beyond the states control.
Aside from the freedom to choose your own death if you wish, the freedom to vote should be inalienable right granted every citizen in a democracy.
I heard from many folk that they’d rather have the Jacinta Arden led Labour government then ScoMo and yet NZ voting isn’t cumpolsory.
There’s something else afoot, self absorbed, greedy people electing appalling politcans is de rigeur, a cumpolsory voting system doesn’t stop it, nor does ranked choice (preferential) voting. We have incredibly toxic politcans amongst us, I could name a dozen or more.
I don’t think one is better then the other. I dont think what we have is the best way, it’s incredibly corrupt and the older I get the more disillusioned I become with voters (not with politcans, they’re like flies to shit, so I blame the shit, not the flies) we are constantly offered different parts and refuse to tale them, what we have is nothing to celebrate IMO.

- Comment on Government waters down vaping ban to win support of Greens 4 months ago:
Seems a big call to say workd leading ?
laotiantimes.com/…/laos-to-ban-e-cigarettes-amid-…
The Lao government is set to amend its legislation on drug prevention and control to incorporate electronic cigarettes into the list of prohibited substances. This decision comes in response to the escalating issue of e-cigarette addiction, particularly among the youth population in the country.
Don’t know about enforcement over there though.
And that seems a reasonable balance ??? Or am I.missing something, banning doesn’t do shit but make it worse, turning a medical problem of addiction into a criminal one.

- Comment on Federal Coalition commits to dumping 2030 climate target as it pursues nuclear power 5 months ago:
To have any chnave we have to engage in demand destruction. There are NO solutions involving growing the economy, we’ll fuck around trying though and make it much worse
It doesnt have to mean a shitty life, it does.mean a differnt life eg no car and cycle and PT means no car costs, denser quieter cities, large houses banned, small really well insulated homes only, less deaths from car polluton etc. We need to ban flying, close airports etc
All we’re doing now is greenwashed nonsense and blah blah blah. At mimum we should be building no more roads and only funding e trains and e bus lanes etc
We’ve barley started with planned withdrawal from coast lines.
We either crash the economy (preferably equitably) or we collapse civilisation, were out of choices, we have left it to long. Neither the ALP nor the LNO are up to the task but that’s on voters supporting those assholes.
