Susan Sontag was asked what she had learned from the Holocaust, and she said that 10% of any population is cruel, no matter what, and that 10% is merciful, no matter what, and that the remaining 80% could be moved in either direction” —Kurt Vonnegut

The medical centre we had on the Gold Coast bulk billed, it also operated 7 days a week and we could walk there and often get a same day apoinment or next day at worse.
Didn’t really appreicate it until i moved to Tassie 2 yeaes ago and a 10min phone appointment costs me $140 and I have to book a fortnight in advance and they shut all sorts of hours fir the occasional visit.

The first preferences are easy, Greens then Independents etc harder at the bottom, so many shitstains, so few spaces to number them.

Ideally this sort of threat could be referred to the NACC, but they’ve shown themselves to be pretty pissweak so far.
Which the Greens said it was… By design.

- Comment on Albanese in trouble as polling shows Dutton most likely to be next PM 5 weeks ago:
Yes, what were learning is that we’lll follow the US down the highway of oblivion, its what voters want apparently.
What I’d like to see is we petition the EU to join, and I’d like to see Canada and NZ do the same and any other nation thats wants to we need to be in world thats closer, not more blacanised. The US and UK can go off and do their own thing separately.
Fuck the US they’ve gone from bad (Regan) to worse (Trump)

- Comment on From Doge to Smoge, Peter Dutton’s Coalition is an eerie echo of Trump (and Musk’s) America 1 month ago:
40 years ago, all I did was vote Independent #1, now (last 20 years) I always vote Green and then preference independents until I run out.
It’s getting harder at the arse end of the ballot paper; One Nation, Palmer, Libs, Nats, Labor, Jacqui Lambi Party (here in Tassie) etal are all shitty choices. How to rank them becomes tricker.

Is the an increase demand issue (from.aroubd the world I mean, not jist Oz) , limited supply issue or both?
I can see the increasing demand issue needing capital to fund expansions that some companies might be wary of?
India seems to be the world’s pill maker, have we outsourced too much?
We seem to now have a dizzying arry of medications and an ever expanding list of drugs, is that some of the bottleneck ?
Maybe Hobart would be better placed spending billions on a drug manufacturing plant to onshore production, rather then those billions being used for the hit and giggle stadium and a basslink duplication ?

This is why guys get married, to escape this hazaed… Night piss everywhere and ignore it, have the wife clean it up and complain endlessly.
This is also the leading cause of divorce apparently, according to the Wikipedia article on the matter.

You can make your own Lemmy iinstance and be your own censorship police, that’s the difference. Thats NOT an option on Reddit.
Hell, you don’t even have to be on Lemmy, Mastodon, any if the Bins etc can interact bacause they alo use ActivityPub.
There are plethora of instances people don’t federate with becase they don’t agree with them, that’s how it SHOULD be.
- Comment on Labor looks likely to win 2025 Election 2 months ago:
if voters are feeling economic pressures lifting
Only 1/3 of homeowners have a housing loan, they’ll be the ones benefiting directly. Investors will not pass on any savings to renters and those owning outright will see a savings hit, going backwards.
We’ve just starting seeing some minor impact on lowering housing prices making it easier for people to buy a place. For example
www.abc.net.au/news/2024-12-31/…/104740132
That combined with a reduced immigration rate should see property prices at least stabilise at the stupid levels they’re at now, rather then keep increasing and making it worse.
Cheaper interest rates might give a small short term sugar hit to a few but cheap interest rates are a sign of structural and dysfunctional failure, they allow people to do stupid shit they should not, like constantly bid up housing prices. We have loose lending laws, as the IMF has pointed out for years, compounding the problem and a buch of other dunmb shit like first home owners grants all making it worse.
We have a planet being destroyed before our eyes and we’re getting a nation of fools electing donkeys. Nothing new under the sun there though.
