Meta will be asking for anus scans soon and people will sit their asshole on their phone and think nothing of it.
- Comment on What went wrong for the Greens in the Australian election? 1 week ago:
As a Greens voter I don’t think theres much more the Greens can do ? Albeit I’m open to suggestions.
As a long time Greens voter, their policy platfrom doesn’t sit with most voters (science and expert based mixed with kindness and inclusivety)
The issue is, if they morph to recgonise that’s not what people want, they will need to look into the abyss and become the abyss and turn into something truly ugly like Labour have done. Albanese literately says that in the AFR today.
- Comment on Secret figures show Liberal party’s ageing membership in freefall in NSW and Victoria 1 week ago:
Andrew Hastie is the evil in the wings,. good looking (not goofy looking like Dutton) and a creationist, anti science, ex-soldier. He’s the horror thats a perfect fit for modern day liberals.
- Comment on Secret figures show Liberal party’s ageing membership in freefall in NSW and Victoria 1 week ago:
Literally in their name, Liberals… They lost that with John Howard and became the nasty party, so poular that their most repugnant policies were adopted by Labor, so where to go from there ?
Even Malcolm Fraser resigned his lifetime membership in disgust and sided with Sarah Hanson-Young.
- Comment on Greens senator defects to Labor 1 week ago:
Yeah her comment about not affecting change from the cross bench was laughable.
And her goals aligning with Labor ? Oh well, more climate destruction and science denial on the way :(
- Comment on Albanese says ‘we follow our own path’ after UK, France and Canada threaten Israel with sanctions over Gaza 2 weeks ago:
What a cowardly response
Well yes you just have to look at what the Australian Jewish comminty representatives said about The Greens before and after the election to understand why.
- Comment on 'Stupid' or misled? Voters demand AEC explain booth's 45% informal vote 2 weeks ago:
Haha, well, yes, same. But imagining I’m the average disengaged voter who hasn’t planned their vote ahead of time
If you’ve put that much thought into our democracy, does your vote matter anyway ?

Apple is apple. They don’t make false claims about how walled off they are.
That’s doesn’t make it a good thing.
- Comment on Is Australia's Overton Window Shifting? 5 weeks ago:
Labor might not be left enough for you personally,
Left enough ? They’re about middle right. The US Dems are more policy aliged with our LNP though.
I’m not sure people get out much ? We’ve already done what the US is doing now. Australia’s refugee and immigrant policy is what America and the UK are using (off shoring), its just illegal to report on and the horror is widely supoorted by Australoans…
We deport “criminals” if they have another nationally, as the US now does , we have a bunch of ologarchs, we have legal discrimination against LBGQT+ by fucked up religious organisations. You are not an Australian citizen if you are born here etc etc
There was a strong consensus that Trump style culture wars are toxic in Australian politics
Both sides are bad here in Australia, the horror is so many people disagreeing :(
- Comment on Gina Rinehart urges Liberal party to stick with Trump-like policies in the wake of election loss 5 weeks ago:
Well using logic, only 34% percent of Australians voted Labor. The vast majority of Australian’s didnt want Albo as PM ether.
- Comment on Greens’ election hubris – how the minor party lost its way and now its leader 5 weeks ago:
Pretty much this, the Green vote was about stable, the issue was preferences. One Nation, Trumpet, Liberals etc ended up having thier preferences fall through to Labor.
Bandts seat was realigned, he took in a new section around Pahran etc that was traditional Labor.
As a long time Greens voter they’re not going to get much further then this, they don’t appeal to entitlement and greed and are more science and fact based. An old quote by James Speth sums up why
As Anthony Green pointed out on election night, next election will be worse as the funding laws have now changed and vastly favour LNP and ALP.
I used to think the top global environmental problems were biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and climate change. I thought that with 30 years of good science we could address these problems. But I was wrong. The top environmental problems are selfishness, greed and apathy, and to deal with these we need a spiritual and cultural transformation, and we scientists don’t know how to do that." -James Speth

I’m 58, so it’s been that way every elction I’ve voted in, getting worse seems to be de rigueue.
Like Donald Hoarne I have very low expectations of voters, alas those expectations are mostly always met.

- Comment on Dutton's trainwreck defence announcement was everything that is wrong with his campaign 1 month ago:
At least the Greens can back their policies with numbers and details, even if you disagree with them. Dutton and Co, it’s just a lot of spooky handwaving and "oooo Labor baaaad! Vote for us! We’ll fix it by mumble mumble
But the latter wins the votes LNP at the last election had the most votes of anyone with 35.7% Greens only had 12.2%
*I’m a Greens voter

That legislation waa brought in under the Howard governemnt from memory?
It’s been awhile (so my memory could be faulty) but their was some large busines shit the bed back in the day and lots of employees were left missing their holiday pay, super etc and legilsation was subsequently introduced to cover it.
