What paper feels the best when you drag your fingers across it?

Okay I know weird question but i just finished wroting something short and important to me and i’d like it to feel good when you read it. Like, in a tactile way as well as an emotional way.

i used to use hammermill something something I forget, my soccer coach would order it (she was also the office manager at the firm but like, she coached my soccer team when i was 8 i still called her Coach) whenever we ran out. Today i opened the bag? sack? whatever of emergency hammermill in my closet and it only felt marginally better than the crazy vaclav’s paper of discounts we been getting. I think i bought the wrong emergency fancy paper, or someone played a prank on me.

The paper paper bags are made from after it gets roughed up slightly. Like, when you rapped your school books with it and it’s had like 6 months of use.

  I thought I specified how the paper feels with your nubbins but sometimes I ain’t word so good. The Bennies definitely have a great emotional feel.

  I mean aside from price how do you determine “good” in cotton linen paper? Just feel? Or does it have better Ink absorbtion/retention?

    For me it’s always been about feel. It’s been some years since I worried about my paper quality, but I used to go to the stationary or office supply store and spend way to much time picking out a ream of what I thought felt best. This was only if I was printing it out on the laser for a paper, or later, presentations. The lack of quality of my penmanship would make the quality of the paper pretty irrelevant otherwise.

If you haven’t tried stone paper, do yourself a favor and give it a whirl. Not only does it feel nice and smooth to the touch and writes like a dream but it’s also highly water resistant(I keep a notepad in my shirt pocket at work and if I moisture/sweat gets onto the open notebook it easily wipes off with minimal smearing), surprisingly tear resistant, and it has the added benefit of being tree-free (typically made with crushed limestone and a bit of recyclable HDPE resin for binding) bleach-free, acid-free, and uses minimal water in production.

100% cotton laid paper, preferably with a full deckle edge. The “laid” part is important, the wire mesh from the mould leaves a texture (like a watermark) you don’t get with modern “wove” paper.

There’s also quite a lot of handmade rag paper out there, most of which is nice. Just be careful of the ones with embedded flowers and stuff if you’re using a laser printer, they can come out and stick to the rollers. (Also much of this is terrible to write on with a fountain pen, as it’s not sized to stop the ink bleeding.)

It has a nice tactile feel, but without the visual distraction of linens or laids.

velvet paper; It also feels deliciously buttery dragging a dry pastel over it or a very soft vine charcoal.

  Ooo, you word thing good. I could make my personal master out of velvet, maybe velvet paper, maybe get it velveted like a Velvet Elvis thank you for this idea. I have only thought this idea at my wife and I can hear her rolling her eyes at the velvet Elvis I love it, even if I don’t go that route I can pester my wife with a new fun phrase to say. Who doesn’t love that (she’ll be glad hoop house is moving on)
