When you watch a movie or show, you are supposed to focus on what you are watching, not focus on anything else or think about anything else until what you are watching is over. So, I can’t imagine how people who maladaptively daydream can focus on a show or film.

If it’s a plotline that requires and rewards concentration, then, if I’m in the right mood, I can concentrate on it. And if it doesn’t require concentration, then it doesn’t matter - I can wander away for a while, then catch back up later.
Though admittedly one of the biggest reasons that I prefer watching movies at home is that I can rewind them when my attention has wandered too far for too long. And there are times when I just have to give up, because it’s not going to be possible to watch this movie now. And there are some movies that I never have managed to make it through.
