I was hoping we wouldn’t have to deal with another summer of this bullshit.

What’s the best response to this? Put up flags of other countries alongside? Use their move against them and see if they take yours down?

I’m wary of taking them down because 1) you get assaulted and used for content and 2) I feel they’re looking for a provocation and an excuse to dog whistle “I’m being censored and can’t even be proud of my country anymore”. But then maybe you should just take them down anyway because you can’t win either way.

Put up Welsh, Scottish, and Northern Irish flags?

They’re not “foreign” and yet, they are. They may just melt on the spot through inability to comprehend whether they’re for or against it.

Or make flags for increasingly specific locations? Flag of Britain, flag of England, flag of county, flag of city, flag of burgh, flag of street, flag of lamp post, flag of flag.

I’d be interested in trying putting EU and LGBTQ flags under each one.

Maybe a Ukraine or Palestine flag, to show the traditional British support of “common decency” and “helping defend those in need” etc - especially if they’ve been putting up the “red-cross on a white background” flag of St Georgios of Palestine, Patron Saint of Ukraine (also used as the flag of England).

If they all stay up, then maybe these people are actually proud of Britain, like they claim?
