So now we can add “directly capturing a sovereign leader” to the list of crap the US has done. So what do you think will actually be “the straw that broke the camels back” for world leaders to actually do something? Think it’ll be significant or something mundane?
For other countries? Nothing. There’s nothing they can do.

Hot take, this was a way better outcome than carpet bombing Baghdad had. Objectively bad of course, but maybe the US military has actually learned something. I’d argue that Trump is a figurehead for the MIC, and it is telling that they have behaved with relative restraint (relative to Gaza and Ukraine for instance). If he was calling the shots for real how would this have gone down? It’s been obvious since the Nobel prizes that there was a western consensus on regime change in Venezuela. It’s directly related to Ukraine. This is a demonstration that the US military is far more capable than Russia’s, and a message directly to Putin and simultaneously any sub-peer nation considering alignment with Russia or China.

I’m not saying what trump did was right, but Maduro was a cunt, chavez was a cunt, the bolivarian revolution has been a complete failure and has cost all countries in the Americas billions of dollars since it started. We just gonna sit back and let despots run countries on our side of the globe?
The issue is that invading another country isn’t allowed. And what’s next: the invasion of Denmark (Greenland) or Canada by the USA… it suddenly seems more probable… nah, won’t happen, you’ll say, different situation. I don’t believe you and I stopped trusting Trump before his first term.

The U.S. military really needs a wakeup call about drones but I think when that happens, its gonna be real bad news for wherever it came from or the scapegoat for it. To be clear, even in light of this, I don’t want to see people killed, on either side of this but the preparation that the U.S. military has for a drone war is woefully inadequate.
Look at the action taken against Iran, that’s a biiiiiiig deal too. Short of a nuke, there isn’t a much more exotic strike package than what was used against them.
