Sounds more like antizionism

Entwining a Star of David with a swastika implies that Jews are Nazis and risks encouraging hatred of Jews.
The Star of David is a sacred symbol of Jewish identity; the swastika is the emblem of a genocidal regime responsible for the murder of 6 million Jews. To merge these two symbols is an act of profound malice, desecration, and cruelty. It is antisemitism in its starkest form.
Are there any other political entities that use that symbol? Perhaps a Nazi entity? I actually notice in the article that they make reference to other political entities.
As the band performed the song, pictures of political figures, including the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and the US president, Donald Trump
Images of the destruction in Gaza were also shown on screen. The video concluded with the words: “Our government is complicit in genocide.”
Oh yeah, come to think of it, Israel, a Nazi state, uses the Star of David as their icon. Given the evidence, it seems more likely the band was actually referencing Israel. I wonder why the author didn’t make that connection.

Unfortunately The Guardian, though probably The British newspaper most critical of Israel, has also fallen victim of the zionist lobby’s push to conflate anti-zionism with anti-semitism.
It’s now practically impossible to say anything in the public space in this country that condemns the policies of the nation of Israel without being drowned out by millions of voices calling you a jew hater.
As can be evidenced by the Maccabi Tel Aviv supporter fiasco where the police who took steps to ban their supporters because of their violent actions have the narrative completely turned 180 by even the prime minister himself.

Fucks sake, this was about Zionism but the Guardian sure is slanting is the other way.

I’m sure it was anti genocide/ anti Zionism they were going for but they fucked up by using the Star of David. That pretty clearly targets the religion not the country.
bizzle@lemmy.world 2 hours ago
Do you mean the star of David that is literally on the flag of the country
TheLeadenSea@sh.itjust.works 8 hours ago
Not really, the Israeli flag prominently features the star of David. 🇮🇱 See?

Yes it was about antizionism, the pictures didn’t end after the star of David/swastika thing. The band is fairly direct about thier criticism with what they showed, even by the Guardian’s description.

A star of David entwined with a swastika? Clearly, without a doubt anti-Semitic. It’s saying “Jews are Nazis”.
If you want to convey an anti-zionist message and don’t hate Jews, it’s actually quite easy. Yeah, Israel will still accuse you of being anti-Semitic but they say Jews are anti-semitic if they dare suggest genocide of Palestinians is a bad thing, so we don’t go by that.
People are pushing back on Israel’s “all criticism of Israel is racist” with “no criticism of Israel is racist”. Be fucking better. Stop condoning racism because it aligns with your politics.

What’s on the Israeli flag…? Y’know, the flag that represent a country? What’s on it again…? I just plain forgot.

a jewish religious symbol mashed together with a nazi symbol can easily be interpreted as anti-jew racism
i’m guessing there was no similar islamic symbol representing the genocidal intents of many islamic terrorist movements and countries

News’ job is to report facts. If one person says it’s raining and another says it’s not the journalist should go outside and check, not just report “he said, she said” bullshit.
