      Those would be the “unreasonable” people I referred to. I have generally pushed everyone else to Signal, and leave the remainder behind in mostly abandoned chats that get little attention any more.

      Yup. I run one for the few platforms I have to stay connected to. Sometimes things are delayed or messages look a little funny, but its better than keeping those apps on my phone.

  I only have it for the neighborhood group chat. Someone suggested to use Beeper for it. Anyone know if it’s safe?

    Beeper is just as proprietary as whatsapp, all you’d be doing is adding another link in the corpo chain that’s handling your messages

    If you can’t get off whatsapp, just locking down its permissions is probably a better move. Do consider never shutting up about signal in said group chat, though ;)
