I saw a similar video but with a raccoon instead. Wow, I wonder if that was AI as well, or if it was the original this one was patterned after.

Pretty soon Windows will basically just be a thin client but somehow requires the resources of a full blown computer.
- Comment on How Long is Too Long for a Reply? 2 days ago:
Unlike reddit where the turnover of content is very quick (i.e. don’t bother commenting on a popular post if it’s more than 2 hours old), lemmy/piefed is slower and a lot of people still sort feeds by active and scaled. So commenting on a very old post can very well still be noticed by other people, let alone the person who posted it.

my brother in law keeps one of these in the door pocket in his truck
Is it printed with the back of the hand on the other side? Because if that’s the front, it looks like he’s giving himself the finger.

Castle’s shooting is still iffy unfortunately. Needs to work on it more, else Harper will take his place soon in the starting lineup.

Wemby’s pretty aggressive, driving and pushing off guys like Kornet. Looks like he’s not hesitating with contact.

Having to continuously pump to keep the volume up is definitely the worst one. Love the creativity on some of the others though.

- Comment on Streaming is overtaking theaters for movie watchers, an AP-NORC poll finds 2 weeks ago:
I stopped going regularly after the pandemic and only ever go to theaters for IMAX or Dolby worthy movies now. I’m fortunate that we have one of the largest IMAX screens in the country in my city, so it’s worth watching a good movie there. But that effectively reduces my movie theater attendance to 1 or 2 times a year.

I thought for a sec you were referencing Mr. Mantis Shrimp from Dandadan.

I once accidentally microwaved a fork. I didn’t notice it because it was buried under the food and I just took out the container from the fridge and put it straight into the microwave. Nothing happened but I was horrified when I saw the fork afterwards. I wonder why it didn’t even cause sparks. Was it because it was underneath the food?
Having said that, it was a shitty microwave that couldn’t really heat food well, so maybe that’s why.

Hometown pride
Do you also refer to your city’s sport team using “we”, “us”, and “our”? I’ve always found that weird, because while I’m a fan, I don’t consider myself being a part of what the team accomplishes. I’m just a spectator. I just refer to them as the team name.

- Comment on AT&T tracked employee attendance to find 'freeloaders.' Now, it admits the system is driving workers to the 'brink of frustration.' 3 weeks ago:
the system doesn't just log badge swipes at the entrance or exit; the presence report uses laptop network connections and mobile device location data to infer the hours an employee was at their assigned office.
"I now understand the level of anxiety that this report has created," Kenny said. "I also now understand how the fact that it is inaccurate is driving people to the brink of frustration, and it's creating distrust."
Imagine being a C-level and just now understanding that breathing down an employee's neck their entire workday is terrible.
