But that doesn’t follow.
The first premise is that science names are not botanical Latin.
Then it’s followed up that botanical Latin doesn’t need to be pronounced like classical or ecclastical Latin.
The conclusion that therefore scientific terms do not need to follow said pronunciation rules is false, as it has been concluded they are not the same.

You can pronounce any word any way you like, full stop. But pronouncing them the way most people do just makes for more effective communication.
