I’m in my upper 20’s, I have a lot of friends I would honestly describe as having a gambling “issue”, it’s a spectrum, some are worse than others. However, I do find it interesting that my peers are so disenfranchised, they’d rather spend time and whatever limited money they have, trying to hit a lottery, rather than work and attempt to move through the social ladder or whatever.
Now, I say all of that, to say, how are we, as a society, okay with this? How is it that I would put my life trajectory in the hands of a digital slot machine? Well, the simple answer is capitalism.
The Roman’s thought it had to be “bread and circus” imagine how stupid they must feel, all you need is a circus to keep your population from coming together.
Anyway, rant over. This image makes me sad.

“Gambling is a tax on those who are unwilling to learn about statistics.”
It’s so destructive to people, yet so tempting for governments and businesses to push onto others.

You can be aware of the stats and still hope to be the outlier.
