A festival being “appalled” is ludicrous. A festival is not a person. What the article actually means is that Glastonbury PR has decided to condemn the comments and chant as they don’t think it fits their brand.
I’ve had enough of having to pretend the “opinions” of companies and entities matter. They are just a business and will go along with the perceived status quo to protect their business interests. Their stance on anything is bullshit and they should be told to shut up - we don’t need Glastonbury telling us what we can or can’t hear or think.
Whether you agree with what was said or not, we really need to push back against the corprotisation of opinion and discourse.

I’m more appalled by Rod Stewart saying:
“We’ve got to give Nigel Farage a chance”.
and
“It’s hard for me because I’m extremely wealthy, and I deserve to be, so a lot of it doesn’t really touch me. But that doesn’t mean I’m out of touch.”

The actual fuck. No way he actually said that

He’s forever saying stuff like that. He’s in utter lunatic.
I actually know a multi-millionaire and he’s exactly the same, they have convinced themselves that they deserve this money and so it’s totally moral and acceptable and therefore they don’t need to give it away to good causes. He is your stereo typical rich idiot, inherited his wealth but thinks he’s a big shot as a result, and cheated on his wife with his secretary.
He once said to me, “I would vote for labour but I have a moral responsibility to the public, so I vote for the conservatives because they are a better party for the people”, if I hadn’t been at work and didn’t have to be civil to him I’d have given him a slap for that.

Sadly, it’s been reported in numerous newspapers, from an interview between him and The Times.
Here’s one from The Independent, but it’s pretty much in all the papers.

Didn’t we give him a chance in 2016 with Brexit and whatever year we elected the Brexit party to EU parliament

Yes, he’s had pretty much a constant stream of chances for over a decade.
For people who actually weren’t given a chance, we need to look at people like Ed Milliband, who once ate a sandwich wrong, or Jeremy Corbyn, who thought we should increase taxes on rich people (which was, according to the news at the time, apparently antisemetic).

What??? Did he actually say that??
