Don’t use adsb exchange! They up and sold out for money. I stop feeding them.

Use one of the not for profit ones. Like airplanes.live, adsb.fi, or adsb.lol

omg thank you so much for this i didnt know about that, i was thinking about to build a ADS-B feeding box for exchange D:

airplanes.live, adsb.fi, or adsb.lol seam to have the exact same feature set as ADS-B exchange minus the replay function, but i can life with that :D

      aussieadsb.com for Australia

all the big sites censor emergency services.

Sweet! Unfortunately just paid a year for exchange. Do the others honor requests to have certain planes not appear?

Nope. The 3 I listed do not filter any aircraft from being visible. They display everything the feeders submit to them.

I have a whole ADSB/VHF/L-Band feeder station on the roof of my garage and I feed the 3 I listed and ACARS data to airframes.io

I do feed flightaware…but only because they’re up front about being for profit and the fact they give feeders a free pro account. But sadly they do filter since its one of the requirements when have access to data directly from FAA. The pro account is nice for setting up alerts for flights family or friends may be on just so you know the plane made it.

I find that despite it being a cardinal sin to use flightradar24, it generally has better coverage for non-commercial aircraft

Since when is it a sin? It’s got great coverage

In my experience, Lemmy seems to hate anything with a subscription model

dosent they filter a lot? i switched to ADS-B exchange because flightradar24 didnt show military planes or something like that…

You know I was finding it interesting that most (but not all) of the planes at the military air show showed up on flightradar24. We got to watch half of it from the car on the drive up, as it’s tradition, so the app let me be a much poorer quality announcer.

I live near a hospital with a landing pad, and there is also an airport on the other side of the city. Mostly I see medical transports or police choppers. But every once in a while, there’s a whole group of what look like chinooks, all black, no markings visible from the ground, in formation flying by. That’s when it’s exciting.

The air force base I live by does not do a lot of helicopter anything. I’m bored as fuck by C5s but a squadron of chinooks sounds cool to watch. Never quite grow out of that.

Just for ease of use my process is: If FlightRadar24 = null then ADS-B.
