I actually respect the hell out of the dev here. Owning up to past wrongs, growing as a person, clear and concise communication, honestly that’s all huge progress.
Fortune's Run development put on hold because the dev is going to prison

I haven’t heard of this game before, so Streisand effect? To the judgement system?
On a more serious note people change, and the dev seems remorseful so maybe an early parole won’t be out of the questionSkullgrid@lemmy.world 5 days ago
so Streisand effect? To the judgement system?
they say it is due to a case where they’re kinda admitting to doing something violent and illegal, probably before the development of the game, so probably not

Next time you want to bitch about everything Trump taking legal years:
My case is about 5 years old now, I have been going through the legal process the whole time I’ve been working on this. I have finally been found guilty and sentenced, and I’m going away next month.
In other news, legal insurance is about $26/mo. Arm yourself. (And it’s not just for suing people or defending criminal charges. Having a legal opinion a phone call away, or a letter written, can be a huge thing.)

I refunded the game last week because it didn’t capture me like I was hoping. I hope the guy comes out of prison to be a better person, but it sounds like I dodged a big bullet.

it sounds like I dodged a big bullet.
How?
How did you dodge any kind of bullet, never mind a big one?
Jumpin’ Jesus on a Pogo Stick, not everything is a life or death scenario - you fucking refunded a game.

It’s just a saying, calm down.

Well if it’s going to be unfinished for a while…

Huh, it might depend on the crime but not having computer/internet access for the entire prison time seems wild. I’m guessing he is not from a country that would allow him to have a normal job whilst in prison (again, depending on crime type).

I’ve tried it out. It’s actually a pretty solid early-access game. Excellent atmosphere and setting.
Respect to the dev with being so open with the community.
