    As someone who likes spicy food: People who eat spicy develop a tolerance. We literally can’t tell how spicy it is under a certain threshold.

      The capsacin burns out the neurotransmitters in our receptors, less to go around. And that works from top to bottom. Go cold turkey and you’ll get a quick reset.

      as another person who eats spicy food: i think that after eating lots of spicy foods, all future foods naturally get less spicy. it’s like a food version of karma. people who don’t eat spicy food have lower scores and so the food gets spicier when they eat it.
