Good on him. I cut the soft drinks many years ago when I started looking after my health, theyâre full of sugar and empty calories. I never crave soft drink anymore. Turned to diet drinks initially, and then eventually you can cut those as well. The awful artificial chemist taste of most of them gets old quick. These days I go for ice tea if I want a sweet drink.

I thought Iâd share this story. I donât know why.
spoiler
My husband drank a lot of coca cola over the years. He loved the sound of a new bottle opening and would slug it down. He was also slightly overweight and had high blood pressure which he was taking medication for. No doubt he was heading for diabetes. An off hand comment by me âyouâd lose weight if you stopped drinking coke and curb the consumption of 2 icecreams a nightâ made him think. He gave up the coke. He ate less icecream and as a result he lost 20kg in a matter of months. He did nothing else differently. It was so dramatic that people were asking him if he was ok. His medication was reduced, he gained abs and he could see his balls for the first time in a long time. His watch told him he has the fitness of a 20 year old. Heâs 50 next year. He feels great. The thing is he replaced the coke addiction with a diet cordial addiction. No sugar he declares. I happen to read the back of the bottle and thereâs nothing in the nutritional panel but the ingredients were things Iâve never even heard of. I point this out to him. He says he has 5 bottles to get rid of. I told him he doesnât have to get rid of them straight away. Have it when you feel like it. He is now looking at everything. âWhy does my chips have sugar in them? Im not get these againâ. The point is, its ok to have these things occasionally but if you wanna look and feel better have a look at things you mindlessly eat.

Wow thatâs great. Good onya.
Duenan@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Have you found that itâs made a difference by cutting the drinks out?
Nath@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Soda water here. I get the pleasure of the fizzy drink, but it is actually good for me. Occasionally Iâll put a little lemon juice in it for flavour.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
soda stream knock off was a HUGE game changer for me. Bit of lime juice and in the early days a touch of sugar was just as nice.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Thatâs a good idea.
bacon@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Aye now I treat soft drinks like alcohol and if I need a sugar boost. For fun and for social situations when I want something to sip. Small change, huge difference.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Thatâs the way to do it. If Iâm out socialising and Iâm not drinking, Iâll have a soft drink.

I watched the Sugar Film with my husband. He knows I am using meal replacement and should have lactose free food for the first two days he was all about looking at labels then he bought more sweetened flavoured fruit yoghurt, lactose free this time and he wonât give up his sugary muesli and other snacks I can understand itâs hard to give up food yourself but to buy lactose free fruit yoghurt when every other time he buys yoghurt just for himself ( because I wonât buy it ) is just too much 𤨠I havenât touched it
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
So heâs buying lactose free yogurt so you can eat it too even though you donât eat yogurt? Is that correct?
Seagoon_@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
and the worst kind of yoghurt that was talked about in the movie
I do eat some yoghurt, I eat jalna unsweetened plain , no extra cream added
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Thatâs the one I eat. Not a fan of todayâs fruit yogurt. Aldi have a Greek yogurt for $6 a big tub and itâs made by Jalna because itâs in the same tub as theirs.
Taleya@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
check out vital zing, great for kicking the sugar addiction
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Iâll have a look at that thanks
Baku@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Oh wow, good on him
I never really got into sugary soft/energy drinks. I am quite fond of sugar free study drinks though. I canât stand coke zero, too chemical-y. But I enjoy a can of Pepsi max with my dinner most nights
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
See it becomes a habit. Itâs ok when youâre young but when you get older you realise your body canât cope with it anymore.
Baku@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Probably. Thatâs my vice though
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Oh shit yeah. Everyoneâs got one or three.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Good on him!!! Thatâs a hell of an achievement!
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Yeah. Heâs pretty proud.
Duenan@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Iâve had the same problem so to speak.
I switched up my diet inadvertently and also cut out a lot of sugary drinks and stuff and Iâve accidently lost weight because of that.
Whatâs not so nice is that people think Iâve lost weight and thereâs a problem because of it.
I had to talk to someone the other day and explain that I am actually eating well and stuff and because of inflation and a few choices to not buy certain things any more itâs led to my accidental weight loss.
I donât like having to discuss my weight at all and I also donât really pay attention to it but it bothers me and I made it known.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
No one likes to talk face to face about their weight but dramatic weightloss makes people concerned that maybe cancer is involved.
It is good that you made it known that you are ok and donât want to discuss it any further.
Duenan@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
I only told one person but there was quite a bit of a long explanation which I donât really care to go over too many times. Just that they keep bugging me about my stress levels and linked my supposed weight loss with it.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
i bet you are in great health regarding your weight
people can fuck off
Taleya@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
ugh, on a related note Iâm dreading some weight comments at the work christmas part (slapped on a few)
Iâve decided to eat commenters. Itâs fucking unwarranted commentary, and anyway, menopause is absolutely descending on me like the wrath of god so fuckem.
