Though, you wouldn’t want to eat one you “recovered” from an urban area that’s had an unknown diet due to all the toxins it may have accumulated in its body.

Meh, I’ve eaten pigeons plenty times in my childhood. That my grandma “recovered” this way, from a back then suburban area. I’m still alive.

Or even their [crop](en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crop_(anatomy). Pigeons are known to ingest what they think are stones which stay in their crop and act as a grit which will grind down whatever is eaten.
