Okay, Aussie Zone brains trust, Iâve got an interesting dilemma for you.
So a bit of background. My partner works as a sole trader, and does contract work for a number of companies.
One of the companies she works for has had a full time position open up, which involves managing their external contractors.
Being a sold trader works well for her, so she wants to turn it down. She wants to recommend me instead.
Itâs a good job. It gas decent pay.
Hereâs the tricky part: Were I to get this role, I would be responsible for managing this companyâs external contractors, including my partner.
In effect, I would be her âbossâ to some extent.
Working with your spouse or partner is always tricky. Let alone being their manager.
Has anyone here worked with someone theyâre in a relationship with? What were the pros and cos? Did you disclose your relationship?
Should I take up the role? Or us it not worth tgd hassles?

Second this, it may be considered a conflict of interest

This is honestly the part Iâm a little wary about.
We live together, and like any people who live together and any relationship, thereâs tension from time to time. Will a morning argument about the dishes not being put away spill over to work?
And conversely, there are tensions in any workplace, and things go wrong at work. Will work tensions spill over into our home life?

@AJSadauskas @StudChud
Start putting the dishes away, with a sincere enquiry about whether it is OK for you to be putting other peoples dishes away. Two birds with one stone.

It depends on how well you get on with your partner. Go for it. Rake in the cash baby while you can.

If you respect each otherâs skills and roles it can be really good.

It might not be permitted at all. Check handbook.
