When if I go to the gym it’s a combination of terminator wannabes or people who are just hanging around sitting on the equipment but not actually using it because they are conducting a 45-minute conversation.

Last time I was at the gym I got COVID, and it was really bad as the virus got deep into my lungs due to deep breathing while working out.
And no girls there either, just bros pumping iron. Would not recommend.

Aww man, I JUST got my gym membership and planned to start this weekend. Now I’m afraid and don’t want to go anymore.
I got triple covid vax tho, should I be ok?

You’ll be fine. Don’t let fear rule your life.

Isn’t fear a big part of human survivor instincts?
Fear is literally the thing that keeps me away from trying drugs, stopped smoking, and stopped drinking in my early 20s LOL.
I love my fears. I’m a cowardly bastard who can never be peer pressured into doing any dangerous or stupid shits.
But I’ll still go to the gym. However, I’m gonna be that weirdo who wears a mask with a bottle of Purell in the corner. :)

Sure, you have a good point. Fear isn’t silly, but there’s a balance to strike. If you’re so scared of possibly getting COVID (as long as you’re not extremely frail or elderly) that it’s causing you to not enjoy yourself do healthy activities like go to the gym, you might be overly cautious.

You’re just telling them to go die and not take precautions.

If you want to be really safe you can choose to never leave your house, but I’d say that’s no life. There’s always going to be some risk involved with whatever you want to do and it’s not always going to be a risk that’s reasonably manageable.
I think telling someone not to worry about getting COVID (as long as they are not extreme frail or elderly) isn’t controversial, it’s common sense.

The health benefits of exercise likely outweigh the negative effects of COVID for most people, especially vaccinated

I was vaccinated four times (in Germany) but I also had some light issues with respiratory diseases all my life and I’m in my 50s which also elevates the risks of infections.
Decide for yourself. Gym definitely is a good place to get healthier. Most of the times.
