Having just watched an episode of the A-team, I think it’s that when these iconic vehicles are onscreen and ‘doing things’ they play the score. (I’m just assuming that’s true for the other two as well, it was true in other 80s shows I’ve seen and seems to have been something of a trope)
Comment on They say you can't hear images.
otter@lemmy.ca 3 days agoIMO the title cards would have worked better, this makes it seem like you’re supposed to hear the sound that the vehicles made
Also, was Air Wolf that popular? I would say MacGyver is a lot more well known. I’m judging that based on other pop culture that has referenced the shows above (ex. Community, etc).
MacGyver is popular enough that some people use it to describe when something is juryrigged/improvised. They might even understand it better than those alternate definitions

MacGyver was more popular, but I doubt much of anyone remembers the theme song.

I can hear Airwolf’s screaming turbine and K.I.T.T.s sensor array.
And they were all very popular. They left the one unpopular vehicle out: Street Hawk.

Man I loved street hawk as a kid for all 2 episodes it existed (or at least that’s probably all my parents let me watch)

I watched these shows as a kid in late 90s via Austrian public TV and can confirm: Air Wolf wasn’t among them but MacGyver was though.
I think Baywatch would’ve worked as well though the genre might be a bit off compared to the others.

Yes people regularly call me MacGyver in my job to this day because of being crafty about finding solutions with what we have on hand.
