I’ll consider it once its been federated. Otherwise its just jumping from one basket to another basket

If only matrix was as usable as discord I’m sure a lot of people would

It is. People just need to use an app that actually cares about good UI like Cinny/Sable. Element is trash.
Sable has every feature I could want and then some

Seconded on Sable.

Firstly, it already is. It depends on what client you use.
Secondly, no they wouldn’t. Even when all the work is done for them, nobody moves because nobody cares even when they say they do.

Stoat chat seems pretty decent open source alternative to Discord, tried it for a while and has similar usability, but same issue, “nobody uses it”, also development has been very slow.

I tried stoat, but I couldn’t create the same community that I had on Discord that I had set up, so I haven’t tried to move everything there. Honestly, if there was a Discord alternative that functioned similar, I would move there tomorrow, but there really isn’t. And there’s no easy way to mirror the content from Discord to the other place so people can see the activity.

I’ve been liking stoat, I only really used discord to communicate with my friends and luckily they were nice enough to humour me with making an account, so now stoats pretty much all I use, even if my friends are still using discord on the side

Yeah stoat looks very promising!

It is more than usuable though, my only issue with it is the lack of communities other than that both apps and servers are pretty reliable imo

It sometimes takes an eternity or two to decrypt my messages, making me really want to agree here.
