Also a 10k boat makes sense, it’s roughly what a small two seater costs in France so I think the scale is wise.
Comment on Fox News sharing billionaire propaganda
bampop@lemmy.world 1 day agoJust putting it at a level that we could relate to, like someone who is comfortably wealthy but not insanely wealthy. What we see as ludicrous extravagance is cheap and trivial to someone like Bezos.

And go down another two decimal places to see how stupidly cheap it really would be. At the average US salary (in some states) of $50,000 it’d be like if you threw an $11 wedding and spent an entire dollar on your wife’s ring.

Dang, Bezos is actually really frugal, we could all learn a thing or two from him.

Net worth and salary aren’t comparable numbers. Bozo’s net worth is the amount of money he could have if he could sell off all of his Amazon stock with absolutely zero negative effect on the market price. Which isn’t something he could ever do.
With a salary of $50k your net worth could be $10 or it could be negative or it could be in the millions if you inherited wealth.
It’s hard to tell what Bozo’s actual income is. His salary is only 80k (disgustingly low, because he’d have to pay more tax on that than most other forms of income). Amazon also pays him 1.6 mill a year in travel and security expenses. The entire rest of it is capital gains and that’s wildly dependent on what any particular year’s economy is like. If we have another 2008, he could actually have an income of negative hundreds of billions in one year.
