It’s a thread mill, not a tap, the grooves are horizontal. It technically is possible to cut an external thread with a tap.

You can also use a tap as a lathe threading tool if it’s got the tooth spacing you want, and the diameter is bigger than any of the dies you have
Real machinists will be sad with you if you do this
