Comment on you know what's mildly infuriating? a reposter bot

Yeah that’s what the block button is for. Blocking is a great method for content curation.

Reddit had a ton of accounts like this, and I loved blocking every one of them. That clearly wasn’t the majority opinion, though.

I think that mods should only take action if it’s too difficult to moderate or the posts are doing consistently poorly. Not a mod, though, so what do I know?

Unfortunately the fact that you need 400 billion fucking things blocked to make this place less annoying… means that it is annoying. Bot accounts and communities that already exist fifty thousand other fucking places with no activity are way too trivial to spin up

  I’ve blocked maybe a dozen accounts that probably aren’t even active anymore.

    If my home feed runs out of new and interesting stuff i open all, think a lot of people do that. Have to say I’m not desperate enough to sort all by new or hot.

    To a degree, yes, how do you build that list otherwise? Most “communities” are duds with no activity. And poor support for aggregating even identically named communities across instances means all of this is a real chore

    I definitely agree with you there. Finding the communities is not easy.
    
    I think when I first started I went through a 411 list and just started adding things that sounds interesting. Many of them still haven’t had any content since I joined, but if they ever do, I’ll catch it.
    
    I also follow /new communities, and every now and then I’ll join a fresh one if it sounds fun. Again, they may not go anywhere, but I’ll know if they do.
    
    Otherwise, I search for things when they randomly pop in my head, or if someone else on here mentions one in particular. Or if I’m bored, I’ll switch to all and see if anything catches my eye.

Welp, as i said in the post, i can do it, but their excessive posting is suffocating genuine content which gets way less comments
