It takes at least a month of little to no vitamin C in the diet before symptoms occur.[1][2] In modern times, scurvy occurs most commonly in neglected children, people with mental disorders, unusual eating habits such as ARFID, alcoholism, and older people who live alone.[2] Other risk factors include intestinal malabsorption and dialysis.[2]
What does that even mean, not eating vitamins for a day? They’re kinda hard to avoid. Are you talking about skipping a multivitamin or something?
I haven’t heard that such direct vitamin sensing is a thing. At most I’ve heard of people getting appropriate cravings when they lack a vitamin, and I’m not even sure whether that’s just anecdotal or an actual effect. Which vitamin do you think you’re sensing after just one day?
I would bet that whatever you’re experiencing is either
due to different food choices altogether, like eating less fruit and vegetables or more junk food. That can definitely be noticeble to the GI-tract, due to different fiber and fat content.
essentially an example of the placebo effect, and would fail to appear if you didn’t know that you took placebos instead of your vitamin supplements.

Probably enough vitamin c in the tomato sauce to prevent that. Unless they’re big fucking cans he’s gonna be hungry as hell though.

Also, I doubt 2 weeks is a long enough period for scurvy to set in anyway

You think someone who thinks like this is eating correctly in the first place?

How many people with scurvy do you know? It’s rare.

i think visible scurvy symptoms don’t set in that fast, but i still notice myself being less fit when i don’t eat vitamins even for a single day.
