      I used to be close with a dragon named xe, and xis human alter, Henk. At one time, their headspace was filled with a corrosive black fog that killed anything that stepped foot in it. As a wizard, I know that physical problems in headspace are often representations of psychosocial problems, so I asked some questions. Turned out the fog was a metaphor for the guilt Henk felt for hurting Xe in the past. I knew therefore that the antidote would be forgiveness from xe. But how does a feral-form, non-sapient, barely-verbal dragon express forgiveness?

      I shapeshifted into a dragon of the same kind as xe and breathed fire on the fog. My fire did nothing. But xe took the cue, stood up, and added xis own fire. And Xe’s fire burned the fog away, until it was all gone. A sharkplane named Ivy happened to be watching, and fell in love with Me on the spot.
