I actually think doing a theme is probably the best way to go about it. Like, if you are into thorned roses, or tribal patterns, or stars, riff on that shit. At least that could be generously called “body art,” and I have no problem with that.(because “art”) think the giant panel work people get on their backs.

True story: I had a friend that wanted me to draw an ironic tattoo for him. I drew the words ‘Chinese Symbol’ in a sans serif typeface and the bastard actually got it inked.
When Chinese people meet him, they love it.

As an artist, having someone get a tattoo of your design is both flattering and humbling. I only had it happen once, and I was flabbergasted he actually got it done.

I drew a Japanese word for a roommate’s bf in college based off an image he showed me. I was going to double check it with my Japanese language teachers the next day, but he got it inked that night. I checked anyways. It was inked backwards.
