Allero@lemmy.today 3 days agoHonestly, if you feel concerned about the state of the Fediverse and the good vs ugly about it, suggest a filter list!
Let users/instance admins decide whether they want to implement such lists or not. If you genuinely believe such filtering makes for a better experience, users will love it.
Just don’t force your decisions onto them. It’s that easy.

That actually sounds like a sane feature the lemmyverse should provide. I also don’t like some instances and come communities, because they are led by extremists, but for that I can just block them on my client. However, I believe it would be nice to have community manage lists.

I know it’s sometimes a bad word around these parts, but that’s exactly how bluesky works. There’s a whole bunch of community provided lists that you can use to both find content and people you’re interested in and filter out the stuff you’re not. It is a first class feature and works very well. To give some idea, I never even knew JD Vance joined the platform because he was instantly filtered out for me. Bliss.
Regardless of how you feel about the platform itself, those community lists prove a really good model that works and I’ve had (mostly) positive experiences on that platform as a result.
