You do understand that it is not always that simple?

If people are dumb enough to vacation in a Fascist country, fuck them. There wasn’t much tourism in Nazi Germany but people were smarted then.

I’m not vacationing in Iran or Palestine this summer. Nor the USA until they decide to fix the country.

You understand that not every visit is a vacay?

I’m American and I went to universal studios this past weekend and was shocked by the amount of foreign tourists. It’s wild to me they don’t know or don’t care about the risk to themselves but are also willing to spend their tourist dollars here, essentially condoning the current government. There’s lots of legitimate reasons to be in the US but tourism isn’t one of them, that said there’s no excusing the actual perpetrators here, which aren’t the tourists. Fuck ICE not the people here for whatever reason.

I kind of agree. I wouldn’t go to the US for now, but they are helding the world cup and some people have to go work. I think the amount of people that went is crazy.

I was disheartened by it. A LOT of European folks are aggravatedly clueless, and a whole bunch of them are ripe for the brown shirted plucking.

Ahh, victim blaming. People shouldn’t come here because it’s dangerous but I’m going to feel sorry when bad things happen. As well, the Nazis had a lot of tourism, in fact they hosted the Olympics before the war there and used it to spread propaganda. Just tourism dropped because of the war, not because of the Nazis.

There was plenty of tourism in Nazi Germany. They held an Olympics.

Funny how that’s a recurring theme of budding fascist regimes to hold massive public spectacles like that.
Bassman1805@lemmy.world 1 day ago
In both cases, the bid to host those events was submitted before the fascist was in office, but the fascist in office sure as hell took the opportunity to use it as their own advertising campaign.
