You make some pots for the neighbors, think your work is done, then suddenly it’s “Oh no Arkadios we dropped one of our urns and also we want to store extra grain for the cold season” and here I am making MORE FUCKING URNS.
What I wouldn’t give to live in the old days before people had to learn a trade to get by!

In high school I had a crush on this girl who had something on her Facebook about really liking gummy worms. I read that, thought “this is my in” so I bought a bag of gummy worms. Honestly, not a bad plan. Next time I saw her, I pulled out my bag of gummy worms and ate a couple.
Did I offer her a gummy worm? No. I was under the impression that she’d see me eating them and say “hey, you like gummy worms too?” And then we’d start chatting and [something] and then we’d start going out.

I get it, “2 penalties canceling out” basically requires a master’s degree. That’s why you never see high school dropouts watching American football while halfway through a case of beer.

Non smoking section with like an 18 inch wall separating it from the smoking section. My mom almost got into a fistfight at a couple of restaurants for seating us directly next to the smoking section instead of in the opposite corner.

“The worst time in 2007” would’ve been the peak before the bottom fell out in 2008.
The bottom is the second best time to invest, after “every 2 weeks when I get my paycheck, regardless of the noise in finance media”
- Comment on NY woman who used to own "NCC-1701" license plate ticketed thousands of dollars because of cars with Star Trek novelty plates going through traffic cameras. 2 months ago:
Part of the confusion may come from states with different license plate rules.
Twenty states require only a rear plate, which means drivers can legally put a novelty or decorative plate on the front. The remaining 30 states require a state-issued plate on both the front and back of the vehicle; New York is one of them.
That may explain why law enforcement would assume a decorative “Star Trek” plate on the front of the car would be a legitimate license plate.
This is one of the stupider “50 countries in a trench coat pretending to be one country” things we have going on. There’s no reason not to require plates on both the front and back bumper, especially when it’s opening the door for confusion with fake plates on the optional bumper.

Yes.
The followup question is “how many people think getting their hands wet without soap is sufficient hand-washing” and the answer is not terribly comforting.

Europa Universalis 4, and it’s not really a close margin. 1445 hr mark is when you’ve finally completed the tutorial and can start the real game.

I really like that there was a whole thing about building a super-weapon where players had to complete quests or whatever to contribute to its development. Then enough players compete the quest and the weapon was completed, and it turned out to be an orbital bombardment that killed enemies and players indiscriminately.
A lot of players were pissed but it’s so aggressively in-character I can’t imagine how they didn’t see it coming.
- Comment on I have been told ever since I was a little shit that when you die you go to heaven first wait in line for St Peter to judge you at the pearly gates? Is this in the Bible? I thought god did judging 3 months ago:
Transubstantiation is kind of in the Bible. Matthew 26:26-28
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”
Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the[a] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
The discussion of transubstantiation is just how literal “my body/blood” is.

Layers are the way to go.
- Long Underwear, a long sleeve breathable undershirt, good WOOL socks
- A sweater or other medium-thickness top garment.
- Waterproof snow pants and coat.
Good boots, preferably waterproof if you’ll be in the snow a fair amount. Definitely good so you have better grip on snowy/icy ground. Thin “liner” gloves and thick waterproof gloves to go over those. A warm hat that covers your ears (I really appreciated my trapper hat when I went to Tromsø).
- Comment on This feels wrong. I love it. 3 months ago:
The reason it doesn’t work is that 1 is a scalar while i is a vector (with magnitude 1). The Pythagoras theorem works with scalars, not vectors, so you’d get 1^2 +1^2 = 2.

Nope, three geometry actually works out such that it doesn’t matter your distance from the mirror, only how tall the mirror is and how high it’s mounted.
A mirror that is as half as tall as your, mounted at head height, will show your white body regardless of how far away you are from it. TECHNICALLY, the bottom edge must be halfway between your eyes and feet, and the top edge must be halfway between your eyes and top of head.

The vast majority of the time, nepotism refers to a patent giving their children special privileges due to the power the parent has.
The word itself comes from from the Italian word for “nephew”, because of a trend of “nephews” of popes getting special privileges (often, these were the popes’ illegitimate sons).
