12000 bees sounds like a lot, but a normal hive can have around 50000 bees in the summer. One time I loaded 3 hives into the backseat of my car because they needed to be transported, and as I was driving I thought what if I hit a pothole or something and they all tip over, I’ll have like 150k bees in the car with me.
