Hot take: too many songs are about Love, and it gets boring. Like seriously, 95%
I rarely listen to music and when I do it’s because someone else turned it on. But my kid absolutely loves music, so we take turns on when she can decide if the radio is on in the car.
The last time I was just thinking, “why on earth is 95% of these songs about wanting a woman/man, romantically or sexually?
Was it all the same genre? Genres have a tendency to be about the same thing. Rap is about sex, strippers, guns and drugs. Punk rock is usually about break ups and depression. Country is trucks, beer, nostalgia. Pop is usually about sex and love…
Most Punk Rock in my experience is either A. Politics, B. The Human Condition, or C. Not Following The Herd.
Punk Rock is also about politics a lot
Yeah it took me literal years to notice. You’re just so used to it.
Yet now it feels kinda shallow.
Unless your child is driving the car, can’t she just wear earphones to have music whenever she wants to?

I like that you chose one of the few genres of metal where it does actually end up being about love… in the metaphorical, “love and kindness defeats evil” kinda way.
The only more “love” genre would have been hair metal.
Death metal would have been a better choice, but then that statement is valid most of the time…
Until it starts bordering on goregrind, and ironically becomes about “love” of a different, one way kinda sense.
