We’ve decided to just go with what the school provides. It may be cheaper elsewhere but I do not have the time to stuff around looking!

Fellow parents… Have any of you gone down the BYOD laptop purchase path through LWT/JB Edu? Apart from it obviously being a brand new device, only advantage I can see is the ease of repairs on site. And seemingly coverage for accidental damage, but I can’t find what is covered when referring to “accidental damage”… I can find the same specs from somewhere like reboot-it for a third of the price, but obviously no servicing…

Parents did this for me (not through JB) when I was in Year 7 and the laptop still works after all that time, but needed to get a newer device in uni because of the specs and outdated operating system.
I remember the laptop having problems with the imaging card, and the hinges. The repair guy fixed it at the school and also I remember a technician coming to our house to repair it for nothing. It was worth it in that case, but if the laptop is good and unlikely to have problems, the cheaper option sounds better.

I’ve been wondering about this for when the kids are old enough. I could get old laptops from work for like $150 each but then people may not be able to service them because they’re non standard
