      Not completely true. The middle can just be a piece of chain as well, but it needs to be under tension. Steve Mould explains it very well in this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0onncd0_0-o

    It’s because the system’s centre of gravity is under the table, and on the table’s side of the fulcrum.
