I’m Gen X and have never made or worn an Easter bonnet. I had to go to church when I was young so I’m surprised somebody there wasn’t on to that

Apparently I had a deprived childhood. I have never made or worn an Easter bonnet or hat. I thought it was an odd new thing, but friends of the same vintage and similar geography tell me this had been happening for many decades, I’ve just somehow completely missed it. Huh.

Didn’t know about it until my kids had an Easter parade in primary school

They were usually made in art class with cardboard, coloured paper and pipe cleaners. Then everyone paraded theirs around at a type of assembly while the Easter bunny visited your classroom dropping an egg off on your desk.

That would have been fun. The few years at school we did them it was a chore given to parents, and then the children of the most creative/involved parents were given awards and made to feel special.
