Why do you think every time there’s a school shooting, it’s a weird right-winger, and the only leftist mass shooting in the last decade was directed at congress?
If mass shooters were randomized among <30s, we’d expect way more lib and left shooters, because most <30s are lib and left.
There are parallels between the moral panic around social media and those of the past, including Eminem, Marilyn Mason, Mortal Kombat, Dungeons and Dragons and Pinball.
But there’s also a world of difference between some violent media and the 24hr assault of misogynistic content put out by Tate and others in the manosphere. It’s specifically designed to trap kids and increase they’re feelings of alienation and hate so they become more and more reliant on the “community” of other angry young men.
This person made his own decisions, he’s the only person responsible for what he did but the content he was watching fuelled his anger and his hatred of women.
Yeah comparing violent video games and propaganda for violent misogyny is obtuse
Andrew Tate is the actual guy, while Eminen was just a character. Marshall Matters was a guy who was trying to raise a daughter and give her a normal childhood, all while her mother and himself were fighting severe drug addiction.

I was a teenager when he released the Slim Shady and Marshall Mathers LPs. It was pretty obvious to me that the more extreme takes were an act. Which is very different from Tate and the like, who claim society lies to men and they are revealing the truth.

quite certain eminem is specifically commenting on the cause of school shootings and how terrible they are, he’s not saying they’re good, he’s saying things fucking suck and we should fix them so school shootings stop happening…

I don’t think that’s wrong, though I think he picked a bad choice with columbine as both shooters were bullies themselves and not loner outcasts as perceived.
However it wasn’t my point, which obviously didn’t get across given the response, my point is that artist intention doesn’t always matter, we easily accept the concept of death of the author when critiquing works, and we also easily accept that at least some forms of media have a direct effect on people’s decision making. So while I don’t think any artist should be censored, I do think it’s foolish to imply that just because something is in a song (or by an extension, is played by a character) it means that nothing bad can happen.

Besides, according to the man himself, on his own website, the lyrics are about relating to the shooters. From eminem.com - “Eminem was often bullied growing up, so part of him understands the desire to lash out at your entire school that the Columbine shooters felt”
I like Eminem but let’s be real, this is a shock lyric, there is not much deeper meaning and the rest of the verse moves on quickly.
Also, didn’t em himself have multiple songs and music videos about his influence and how children shouldn’t listen to his music
