i get the appeal, but it only creates more work for volunteers who maintain it, in a climate of fact denial and blatant attacks on that very platform by powerful people, governments and organizations.

Yeah, but it takes time away from volunteers who could be correcting disinformation on those other posts. I wonder how many hundreds or thousands of people vandalize posts with the same attitude. If you want to vandalize for the lols, go spray paint a dick under a bridge somewhere, at least someone gets paid to clean that up.
