I kinda agree, but the fact it was so tightly packed made it difficult to create visual variety, and ends up becoming a bit repetitive. Forest, forest, more forests. I’d had liked to see a desert, maybe some crystal cave, mesas, etc.
That partly why I look forward to 2k2, ot seem way more open.

One of my personal favorite. I loved the first game, but felt it was a bit too… Small.
I mean, you can go from one end of the map to the opposite one in barely more than a few minutes, without even using fast travel…I hope 2k2 will be a lot bigger.

I honestly hope this will play better on the Deck than GW2.

Welcome Frenchfrynoob.
Funnily, my american friends do call me French Fry too, but because I’m French myself 😆. I call them freedom fries (a joke that dates back to France refusal to follow the US in Irak)

Removed under rule 2.
Try to not push your arguments in a offensive way next time.
Any person has the right to be acknowledged as they are, not as other want be to be.
Speaking of vocal minority, I’d add the one who tries to erase any LGBTQ+ from anywhere visible (books, games, speech). Which you seem to support, according to your comment.

If you aren’t sure of a binary source trustworthiness, better not post it. Stick to what the devs officially publishes.

Which is why I did not delete the post and commented instead. Technically it is against the rules, but interesting nonetheless, so I’d like OP to defend his post it order to promote a conversation on said topic, instead of doing a post&run.

Hi Silverchase.
This content may be a better fit for c/gaming, rather than c/games.
We try to limit meme-ish content under rule 4, not because we don’t like them, but because it tends to overwhelm other content (like game trailer does when their is a big gaming event).

That’s not how LLMs work either.
An LLM had no knowledge, but has the statically probability of a token to follow another token, and given an overall context it create the statically most likely text.
To calculate such probability as accurently as possible you need as much examples as possible, to determine how often word A follow word B. Thus the immense datasets required.
Luckily for us programmers, computer programs are inherently statically similar, which makes LLMs quite good at it.
Now, the programs it create aren’t perfect, but it allows to write long, boring code fast, and even explain it if you require it to. This way I’ve learned a lot of new things that I wouldn’t have unless I had the time and energy to screw around with my programs (which I wished I had, but don’t), or looked around Open Source programs source code, which would take years to an average human. Now there is the problem of the ethic use of AI, which is a whole other aspect. I use only local models, which I run on my own hardware (usually using Ollama, but I’m looking into NPU enabled alternatives).
- Comment on Lutris now being built with Claude AI, developer decides to hide it after backlash 3 months ago:
Being a developer, I don’t care if someone else uses my code. Code is like a brick. By itself it has little value, the real value lies on how it is used. If I find an optimal way to do something, my only wish is to make it available to as much people as possible. For the betterment of humanity.
- Comment on Good news, UK Discord users, we're part of a Peter Thiel-linked data collection "experiment" 3 months ago:
Your argument cannot be considered as an "reductio ad absurdum”, as it didn’t show any absurdity in your opponent arguments. Your argument could be considered as either an “argumentum ad lapidem” (dismissing a claim as absurd without demonstrating proof for its absurdity), but more realistically it is indeed a strawman, as you try exaggerate you opponent argument in order to weaken it (avoid because Israeli != avoid because of possible link to Israeli intelligence ties).
Still, you are right to doubt some of your opponent proofs. I too have my doubt on that claim, but don’t have the time right now to fact check it.
Feel free to link your own research here, if you find more reliable sources. - Comment on I Live In Eastern Europe And I'm Making A Creepy Game About Authoritarianism (Demo Is Live) 4 months ago:

Well, I agree that US companies do get fined a lot in the old world… The question is, is it because they break the law all the time or because of some sort of conspiracy?
According to Ockham razor, the first should be considered first, then, if disproved, the second can be considered.

Not before being unknowingly sold to the public
Well, if that was truly forgotten in the game at release, and removed once discovered, I don’t see any problem. The textures that are used now are 100% hand made by actual artist, to my knowledge.
My problem with AI is its heavy usage of plagiarism and vast degree of power consumption, as well as the price hikes its caused for many computer parts.
I entirely agree with you there. The plagiarism problem is in my opinion partly resolved by open datasets (OpenOrca, and the like), which means the user has the possibility of choosing to not rely on plagiarism. Problem is that the models trained with those dataset are rarely available on public platform, which is another reason why I use my own infrastructure. Personally I use Mistal-7B-OpenOrca on a locally run Ollama, which reside in my homelab. The power consumption is a problem, and the reason why I use my own dedicated hardware for anything related to AI (which has also the advantage of heating my home a little bit, so nothing is lost 😆). I even invested in a laptop with dedicated AI hardware to be able to make it as efficient as possible. And of course got hit by the AI taxe, albeit I was lucky to get 32Go DDR5 at only twice the usual rate instead of five time the usual rate as it is currently the case.
Whenever anything is attempting to make money, it should be put under the highest scrutiny. It does not matter who’s pushing it. Similarly, I find it odd that we’re assuming the inner workings of Clair Obscur’s workplace
You are right. But I don’t think they the the kind of guys to seek wealth of fame. They put their energy in a project they believed in, can we blame them to have used the tools they had in hand to try making the most of their limited budget ?
If you replaced AI here with anything defamatory, like pictures of penises placed by an enraged employee after being fired, then even having a few would be devastating on sales. The single fact that we’re okay with a few means that, over time, that bar will likely be pushed further down the road “oh, it’s just this one character that practically never shows up” “oh, it’s just the skyboxes, they’re basically not noticeable anyway” “who cares if the early access uses AI voices? They’ll be replaced eventually!”
You’d be surprised how often it happen for former angry employees to do that. We even had example in some Disney, with very explicit scenes even going all the way to customers.
I never said that they where OK with it, just that no one can be expected to check every little texture without being expected to miss some of them. Human are prone to fatigue, and I saw many bugs going in production due to such errors of judgement.
As for using AI during early access, IMO it depends on the size of the project. And one man project ? Totally fine, even after launch. A full 400 men project from a big publisher? Not so much, they have to mean to do it by hand. Especially considering how expensive they sell it afterward.
Clair Obscur being a mostly 30 men project (plus some occasional extras), I, personally, don’t see AI usage as a problem as soon as it is sparsely used.I assure you, AI is not popular. Studies have shown that AI is causing people more concern than excitement Not the most reputable source, but oh well
I’m speaking about Clair Obscur, not AI. Don’t you feel surprised that as soon as they get a big boost from the game award, you see people left and right creating dramas for whatever reason they find? Some forgotten AI texture in the final game? Really?
Blue Prince does use AI assets No it didn’t
My apology for jumping on that bandwagon. I’m unfortunately not totally immune to that either 😅
On the other hand, IGA did forbid AI on the whole project pipeline, and if I find it a bit overblown, it is their choice, and I’ll respect that.
What baffles me is all the hate Clair Obscur got because of that. The vast majority was made by hand, and the game is good. If the story was AI gen, or the music, I’d agree, but a fucking texture? In which way would it suddenly make a multiple year project shit like some pretends? - Comment on Indie Game Awards Disqualifies Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Due To Gen AI Usage 5 months ago:
It’s is still their own artistic sensibility that made the art, not the AI. You will always be inspired by other things while doing anything requiring creativity.
Would being inspired by Picasso suddenly make one art worthless? Of course not. So why would being inspired by an AI generated example make it any different ?
