- Comment on Steam Deck officially comes to Australia in November 2 months ago:
About time! Although now I’m left wondering how long until the Deck 2 comes arrives and whether I’d be better off waiting.
- Comment on 14 films that embarassed the blockbusters by making millions off tiny budgets 2 months ago:
Clerks was made for $37k, including Kevin Smith maxing out his parents credit cards, and earned $4.4M.
- Comment on Fallout TV Show ... not vibing with eps 1,2 ... what am I missing? 4 months ago:
“I loved Brokeback Mountain but find these John Wayne movies not to my taste”
Sounds like you like the setting - post apocalyptic - not necessarily the premise. Fallout is about the offbeat humour and violence. Silo is completely different (I loved Silo too).
I know pllllllllenty of people who don’t like Andor. They found it either “too Star Wars-y” or “not Star Wars-y enough”.
The world would be a boring place if we all liked the same things.
- Comment on Why is it a common insult for someone to say they slept with your mom? 5 months ago:
If this were the case then “I fucked your dad” would be just as common an insult, with all the same connotations.
- Comment on Does different parts of the world use different standards for water pressure similar to voltages? 5 months ago:
Australia uses kilopascals rather than PSI. Our standard is 500kPa which works out at around 72 PSI.
- Comment on New Indiana Jones And The Great Circle trailer shows snow nazis making train noises and not much else 6 months ago:
Dumb article title. I thought the trailer also showed some pretty tight writing that nails the Indiana Jones vibe pretty damn well.

They are just being clear and accurate with their comms. No need to over think it.
- Comment on Glorious Victory 7 months ago:
I can’t tell if you’re being downvoted by dorks who don’t realise you’re joking or by dorks who DO realise you’re joking and feel attacked. Either way, sad, silly down voters.

I’m in the southern hemisphere. The entire planet earth was in my way. :-)

I had an entire planet in my way, didn’t see a damn thing.

A 12m stainless steel pedestrian bridge that took 6 years to make and was subsequently “strengthened” to meet safety requirements. Not quite the same thing.
- Comment on Dragon's Dogma 2 MTX 8 months ago:
The whole thing is a storm in a teacup. I’m level 40 in the game and have not once felt the need to even LOOK at the MTX store. The game is complete; the MTX are there if you’re too lazy to be bothered using the in-game travel mechanics. Simple as that.
- Comment on Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom devs explain why it was a much bigger overhaul than you'd think 8 months ago:
The stories in most Nintendo games are weak and mostly pointless. I loved BOTW but strrrrrrrruggled to enjoy TOTK. It just felt too gimmicky. And I adore RDR2, story and gameplay.
- Comment on Introducing Community Game Help, a new enhancement for Game Help powered by user-generated content 8 months ago:
If good quality game help doesn’t get used much why on earth would low quality game help jammed full of “funny” advice and memes be better?
- Comment on Era of complex and ambitious TV is over, says Sopranos creator 11 months ago:
Yeah this smells a lot like “old man angry things aren’t the same any more”.

You’d read the labels of whatever the hell was within reach. Shampoo bottle, toilet cleaner bottle, soap, whatever.

I wish. The DJ would always talk over the start of the songs, and then start jabbering again before it ended.
- Comment on Does the rest of the English speaking world generally understand what an American means when they say "soccer", or does it help to clarify by adding "football"? 11 months ago:
American football is (semi-)frequently called gridiron in Australia. I’d say most people would know what sport you meant if you called it that.
We usually call soccer, soccer but soccer nerds and those with close English heritage will call it football to feel superior.

A proper REST API sounds like exciting news to me, and I’m sure anyone who needs to interact with their APIs…

You’ve just described a chore you enjoy vs a chore you don’t. If you enjoy it, great, it’s not a chore for you! If you don’t enjoy it, it’s a boring tedious chore.
I found Elden Ring to be aggressively, intentionally designed to waste my time. At no point did I feel any sense of enjoyment. I found Starfield to be a bit lacking in depth and variety but otherwise OK-ish.

You can’t go posting something like “cum x scandal” and then just walk away Lileath. We need closure on this.

Speak for yourself! I was half-way out the door with my snow boots and plane tickets in hand.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
As someone with no experience with DnD or video games closely aligned with DnD, BG3 is very, very complex. I often make decisions based on nothing more than a vague guess as to what I’m doing because I’m not in the mood to wade through all the stats and guides etc to work out what it all means. I’m enjoying the game but I am absolutely certain I would have a better/easier time of it if I understood what the heck was going on better.
Make it that what you will. :-)

- Comment on Baldur’s Gate 3 Delay Shows The Xbox Series S Still A Headache For Developers 1 year ago:
Yeah that’s the problem, they obviously lie about minimum specs on PC but that is OK for some reason. Xbox enforcing a quality experience for its users is somehow “holding the industry back”.
