It is calories in/out but having guardrails is super helpful to a lot of people. Many overweight people got that way because they run pretty loose ships when it comes to diet to begin with. Rules can be helpful. Intermittent fasting of course is pretty popular and followers seem to get results.
Couple years ago I lost a bunch of weight just following “Eat Right for Your Blood Type” which I’m sure is quackery- but it was effective. Felt great too.

Oh, im really not that deep. I don’t spend much time worrying about what others are doing for sex or intimacy.
Some other user said it’s probably because I can’t compare myself to a girl, unlike another man, which is probably true.
Appreciate you explaining what they probably meant by that comment as I was extremely confused
- Comment on Anon catches his wife 3 days ago:
Yeah that probably has a lot to do with it now that you mention it.
- Comment on Anon catches his wife 3 days ago:
Might even get a threesome out of it!

I’ve seen more often than not (like this post) that other guys are uncomfortable and consider their girlfriend with another girl a deal breaker. To me it makes no sense.
My girlfriend never really talked to me about it, just kinda found out or she might mention something here or there. Didn’t really matter.
This was also back in the day - raves, bars, drinking, drugs, sex. The good old days lol.

I totally hear you there. No problem with whatever people want to do. Everyone should be able to pursuit their happiness if it isn’t causing others harm or distress. Live and let live.
- Comment on Anon catches his wife 3 days ago:
lol what? Not sure what you read but I said I had no problem with my girlfriend with other girls.
Furthermore I’ve hung out with tons of gay people. My brother was gay (died of fentanyl). Zero issues with whatever people want to do in their bedroom. None of my business anyway.

I’m in my early 40s with four kids now and that seems like way too much work lol. To be clear though, I definitely would have considered it cheating if she was with another dude. It was just with other women it wasn’t an issue at all for me.
- Comment on Anon catches his wife 3 days ago:
I had a girlfriend in my 20s that used to hook up with other girls. For some reason I never considered that cheating and never cared. No idea why it never bothered me.

Think you just described colony builders quite accurately. Loved the idea of an ant farm when I was a kid until I put the small ones in instead of the big ones

Haha well done. It was Nextel International and the CEO was Steve Schindler

Lemmy is small enough so I’ll just say Nextel International

My dad was a C-suite at a major telecom company. The CEO also had a private plane that the company would then pay him to use lol. This was like 20 years ago and thought it was a bit shady back then.
- Comment on Why do people around me tend to increase their responsibility load (i.e. have children, become a manager, do charity, etc.) while I (30M) try to avoid it as much as I can? 1 month ago:
Those sound like some pretty cool hobbies tbh.

Europeans don’t have thermostats because they don’t have AC. You’re speaking elvish to them.

You’d never hear any Americans talking about soccer unless their kids were playing in a Rec league
- Comment on Anon has memory loss 3 months ago:
Had a buddy in the early 2000s that had memory loss. Before GPS this dude wouldn’t remember north from south but when his memory clicked he was able to navigate the entire Washington DC area with no problems. It was very interesting.

I was watching He-Man recently and the PSAs at the end are kind of funny since Man-at-Arms talks about how practical jokes can make your friends lose an arm, eye, or life. They were straight shooters in the 80s!

Bob Saget is an awesome pick. Tim Allen was sort of similar although it wasn’t nearly as shocking as Bob Saget. America’s funniest home videos was so lame that the bar was as low as possible.
- Comment on Anon gets a job 4 months ago:
My dad was an executive for a large telecom company in the 90s and 2000s. A lot of the other executives would actually start a farm… like alpacas lol. The CFO of the company started a hydroponic farm (not a drug one)
I don’t think what you’re saying is all that silly, seriously.
- Comment on Anon gets a job 4 months ago:
Yeah I worked a job which security clearances were needed. Spent a lot of the week in the parking lot waiting for clearances to push through. Very boring and by the time you got in you didn’t feel like working anymore.
