- Comment on Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut - Launch Trailer | PC Games 3 days ago:
Besides the Sony account drama (I don’t care about multiplayer), anyone know how this actually runs performance-wise? I usually assume these ports scale well since it’s a PS4 game but Sony launches have been all over the place.
- Comment on Net neutrality is back as FCC votes to regulate internet providers 3 weeks ago:
That would require Congress to act and Congress is barely capable of accomplishing the bare minimum to keep the budget running so the entire world isn’t thrown into chaos. Asking them to do anything that actually protects consumer rights is going to take either an emergency or an extreme electoral shift.
- Comment on Low tech DHCP 1 month ago:
You could, but that information gets stale pretty quickly and is tricky to do with the ACLs.
- Comment on Low tech DHCP 1 month ago:
I want to criticize this but I have multiple production environments with no DHCP and the process for provisioning new servers is basically “Guess an ipv4 address and if you pick one that’s already in use the build will fail and you can guess again.”
This is arguably better which is a little embarrassing.

I’m quite partial to the basketball sized black sphere with a fuse sticking out of it.
- Comment on Factorio Friday Facts #397 - Factoriopedia 3 months ago:
I bought Factorio a couple years ago and played for about 4 hours. I thought it was pretty fun but I didn’t really get hooked or anything so it sat in my Steam library for a while.
Early last summer I gave it another go and something finally clicked. I probably spent a whole month doing nothing but play Factorio when I wasn’t eating sleeping or working. My wife was concerned. It was by far my most played game last year and it’s now probably one of my favorite games ever.
If you’re into programming or dev ops it definitely aligns with that mindset once you get deep enough in the game you start seeing the patterns and trying to optimize your factory design. But that sort of game isn’t for everyone.
- Comment on DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH – State of Play Announce Trailer 3 months ago:
He’s a completely insane horny man that loves action movies. His games tend to be high quality and even when they aren’t good they are at least entertaining and try something new.
He may have gone full George Lucas at this point though where he’s so overhyped that no one second guesses him at all. Death Stranding had some weird shit even for Kojima. I wonder what he could make if his personality wasn’t so dominant in a game and it had some input from other creative visions to reign in his weirder ideas.

- Comment on What's your favorite game that you will NEVER finish? 4 months ago:
Finishing the main storyline can potentially block off whole questions depending on how you handle it. I usually progress it to a certain point and then stop.
- Comment on What's your favorite game that you will NEVER finish? 4 months ago:
TotK itself seems like it may have been DLC that eventually grew so large in scope that it became a full game.

Fallout: New Vegas.
Love the game, it’s potentially the best in the series. But I’ve hit the same game-ending glitch twice. Basically at a certain point an important faction decides to become completely hostile towards me despite me having positive faction rep and despite lots of tweaking with console commands to try to work around the problem.
I’d even restored a save from ten hours prior to triggering the big and still had the problem once I progressed a quest line.
Super frustrating. I’ve experienced a lot of the early game multiple times but never gotten to the end of any of the major quest lines.
- Comment on Zelda Producer Eiji Aonuma Doesn't Really Care About the Series' Chronology 5 months ago:
This seems fine. I don’t understand the desire to have an overarching chronology anyway. It’s pretty clear each game is its own world with little connection to the other series beyond recycling some of the same concepts.
It makes more sense lore-wise to just think of them as entirely separate universes with some direct sequels. Majora’s Mask is a direct sequel that takes place in a canonically different dimension anyway so they already introduced the concept.
- Comment on Steam Deck OLED is now available 5 months ago:
Is HDR generally unavailable on Linux right now? I primarily game on a Windows desktop but I’m considering trying to make my next build in a few years the equivalent of a “Steam Deck Console” but I’ve been trying to anticipate issues that might make it too limited or frustrating to use.

- Comment on Strikes aren’t bad for the US economy. They’re the best thing that could happen 7 months ago:
I was mad about the Biden administration’s approach to the rail strike too but you should know that the administration continued to negotiate after ending the strike to get workers the benefits they deserved while also avoiding the devastating impact of a strike.
- Comment on ‘The Continental’ EPs on “Terrifying” Undertaking of a ‘John Wick’ Spinoff Without Keanu Reeves 7 months ago:
By the second movie I was laughing at how the entire world seemed to be secret super assassins. As if the whole economy revolved around gold coins and killing people. It totally lost any connection to the real world and only got wackier from there.
Great action choreography though.
- Comment on Unity Claims PlayStation, Xbox & Nintendo Will Pay Its New Runtime Fee On Behalf Of Devs 8 months ago:
People keep telling me that PC gaming is expensive and yet I pay no subscription fees and have plenty of choice for which storefront to purchase from so game prices tend to stay low outside a few exceptions.
- Comment on 62% of Student Loan Borrowers Say They're Likely to Boycott Repayments: Poll 8 months ago:
You’re assuming everyone with college loans has a degree which is not always true. Plenty of people take out loans intending to get a degree and don’t make it all the way. Those loans don’t just go away. Now they are paying towards a loan while having none of the benefits from having a degree. Plenty of people with a degree stop working to start a family.
It’s pretty easy to understand why many people with student loans might be making less than ~$30k a year if you think about it a little bit.
- Comment on Bruce Willis’ Wife Gives Blunt Update Amid His Dementia Battle: “I’m Not Good” 8 months ago:
I watched Hudson Hawk for the first time a couple years ago and it’s one of the most fun, insane, over the too weird movies I’ve ever seen. Even stranger knowing that Bruce Willis had wanted to do this cat burglar character for years prior.
I don’t even know what comes close as far as times I’ve said “What the fuck?” while watching a movie. It’s great.

What gpu do you have? I’d been holding off too since there are a lot of other great games out recently but I’ll probably pick it up soonish if it’s mostly stable.
- Comment on Smash Bros director says "it's fair to assume there will be another one," and he can't imagine anyone else making it 9 months ago:
I’m happy someone is as passionate for Golden Sun as I am. Always loved that franchise. Isaac would be cool, I was stoked when he at least showed up as an assist trophy. Seems to be the most attention that series is going to see for a long time unfortunately.
