Interesting. I didn’t know that about deleting comments. The web client on my instance has a delete button, but is there some kind of issue with that change not necessarily propagating to other instances?
It doesn’t bother me much personally since you never really can be sure that you deleted something from the internet. Even if reddit deletes a comment, you can possibly find it on an archive somewhere. Anything you toss onto the web should be something you’re comfortable with the world knowing.

The issue is that some day someone may have to work on your home, even if it’s just getting demolished decades or more from now. I don’t know how difficult it is to work with if you know that it’s there in advance.

Too late. Now you have to install FreeBSD.

In Benjamin Franklin’s experiments, he came up with the convention that we use today to define a “positive” charge. As it turns out, electrons, discovered much later, are negatively charged according to the convention. Lots of chemical and physical reactions involve electrons as charge carriers, so lots of physical phenomena have this weird opposite thing going on. E.g. electric current or “conventional current” flows in the opposite direction of electron current. Chemical reactions are also weird. Reduction reactions involve a reduction in electric charge, but gaining an electron. The model works just fine, but it can be tricky and/or annoying at times.

But the steam network is still around. When steam actually shuts down and no longer has the infrastructure to provide downloads for games, I have no idea what their plan is. They hypothetically could provide a way to remove the DRM, but I doubt that it’s something the publishers of games would allow.

That could be what happened. Greentext is just a bunch of stories. If you really think about it, it’s just as likely that this is entirely made up.
- Comment on What games would you recommend others to just play on easy difficulty 2 months ago:
Maybe it’s a skill issue, but this game was Star Wars Jedi Knight 2 for me. I think I played it on the second easiest difficulty. On higher difficulties, the enemies move much faster and do more damage, and you start to realize how inaccurate the guns are. On top of that, the weapons are projectile weapons, so you’re aiming inaccurate and slow projectiles at stormtroopers shuffling left and right rapidly. I think it’s much more fun to just play on the first or second difficulty.

I watched it so many times as a kid. I didn’t appreciate how unique it was at the time, but I still loved it. Great movie.
- Comment on Elden Ring Player to Sue FromSoftware Over High Game Difficulty 3 months ago:
Somehow I had a way harder time with Elden Ring than Dark Souls 1 or 2, but difficulty is a bit subjective.

- Comment on Bungie lays off 220 people, will set up spin-off studio 3 months ago:
I think it would be easier for indie devs to keep cost down. They have fewer devs and artists on payroll. The issue with triple A games is that they’re super expensive to produce, and small teams can output excellent work as well.
- Comment on Why do we put up with this crap? 3 months ago:
It takes so much longer though. I don’t think I’d prefer the travel time of a ship over the sea over the temporary discomfort of a flight.
- Comment on Are there any voxel-rendered (if that's the term) game like Voxatron? 3 months ago:
Maybe not exactly what you’re looking for, but Vangers is a game that uses voxels AFAIK.

Not every enterprise runs crowdstrike, so it’s not Microsoft’s fault. I was having trouble finding out what happened because our computers were working normally, lol. The XKCD comic tipped me off.

True. We need to ask that person how long a wave needs to last before it becomes a water mountain. I’ll tentatively say a year?

Temporary water mountains don’t count.

I’m tempted to give this a try. I already am really happy with my VPN and password manager, but it looks like you can subscribe to mail/calendar for a reasonable price. If I did that and drive, I’d rely on Google a lot less.

I think the acceleration may be an issue too. It’s hard enough to do when you’re still, but it may be harder when you’re plummeting and trying to slow down.
