You can say things without being an asshole, but
you know also what makes someone a smug asshole? budgeting, eating right, exercising, and all the stuff we all know that are good for us
is just being an asshole for no reason. Nobody said or implied any of those thing, they’re just tilting at windmills because they want to talk shit and don’t like being told they’re talking shit.
They didn’t even initially mention privilege, just “young people,” so being told to tone down the hate is warranted.

If you put new information on top of a pixel, the pixel is changed and it is no longer the original information. Your headphones example would be more accurately applied to the visual medium as running custom color profiles, like adjusting saturation and contrast. The original information is there (music waveform or pixel color) but affected by delivery (bass boost or colorblind adjustments).
