As a Dutch person we’d happily welcome the more sensible Americans over here 🙂. I can’t guarantee our government wouldn’t try to stop a mass migration wave given their anti-immigrant policies though

I recently learned about the great auk, it’s so sad that they no longer exist. Humans really suck, so many species went extinct because of us. And in this case it wasn’t even necessary for survival, they just killed a ton of them for their feathers to make fancier pillows (and other stuff) but they weren’t eaten I believe…

I agree, this will really be a shit show. It’s especially scummy that just last week they announced a road map and opened pre orders only to now suddenly delay the whole game by 5 months(!). There’s no way they didn’t know about this last week, why open pre orders then? I know it says you can get a refund but it’s not a good look to do it this way. Sports Interactive is so bad at marketing and timing things it’s insane.
I think this delay will cause problems for both this game and the next one because they’ll either have to focus on FM26 and undercook this one or they’ll focus on this one and release a minor upgrade in FM26. There’s no real solution anymore, all because of how they’ve done things.
- Comment on Do remote workers actually work? Yes, but they also shop and shower 2 months ago:
Haha it’s so ridiculous that these articles never take into consideration that people in the office don’t have a lot of productive time.
I had the same, I would have a somewhat easy first hour, then spend 2 to 3 hours really focusing and then I’d basically be done for the day and would spend some time idling after lunch until I deemed it was an appropriate time to leave and “work some more from home”.
My best year billability wise was the first year of the covid lockdowns, I managed to generate something like 25% more just because of being able to work from home and cutting back on the travel time to customers and being able to multi-task occasionally when I had a quiet day for a customer. I’m glad I live in the Netherlands, hybrid/remote working seems like it’ll remain over here at least.

There’s nothing left to blast in ol’ Mitch, he’s already been running on fumes for way too long.

This whole conflict has just always felt like a massive grey area as an outsider. Both sides have done horrible things over the years, with the retaliation often being even worse. Most governments (including mine) are actually supporting both sides, for example through humanitarian aid. That’s just kind of weird when you think about it, in a way they’re enabling both sides to keep going. And I just don’t know if there’s any way out of this besides one side completely destroying the other. Peace talks have been had so many times and it just doesn’t lead anywhere. It just feels inevitable.

The family plan sadly isn’t an option for me, I don’t have anyone in my family that uses YouTube as much as I do so they wouldn’t be interested in it.
- Comment on Youtube ads finally got me 1 year ago:
I wouldn’t mind paying a little bit of money every month to get YouTube ad free. However, it costs €12 a month. That’s a lot of money if you only care about getting rid of ads. I personally don’t need the other features (downloading videos, background play and YouTube music). If they added a 5 to 7 euro a month tier through which you could get rid of ads then that would be much more interesting to me. Now I just feel like I should keep looking for ways around their pop up shenanigans.

I mean, they pretty much ruined things for themselves already. Developers have lost faith in them and they’re losing out on monetization everywhere. On top of that there’s even a few big game studios that are investing in their up and coming investors. They might seem fine for now but unless they carry out a huge course correction (and fire their entire higher management that were responsible for greenlighting this idiotic change in the first place) they’ll just slowly bleed out over time and fade into irrelevance.

Besides the amount of content (and the occasional server issues) on Lemmy I haven’t missed anything about Reddit after switching.
